6otM62 AAR

Here is the spreadsheet I used to track culture. It is pretty good for my own thinking about the game but I admit a bit of a pain to actually use since you have to update things yourself. On the plus side, using this made me instantly realize whenever Open Borders expire. I did not add columns for things like National Parks, tourism from walls, and unique improvement tourism at flight since the game ended before any of that came into play.

Sorry it took me so long to upload - long week at work.

I will use this for a few more games in progress and then write up my thoughts about how much relative tourism does (and should) come from different sources.

CV @ Turn 160.

Very fun game. Missed goddess of the harvest so went for divine spark, built Amphitheaters and filled them with great writers. I always miss that ancestral hall cannot actually be built before a Government and it always messes up my build orders :shifty:. Declared once on Pedro, took his capital to slow him down. Victory was delayed by ~15 turns as I met China very late, and they started building strong domestic culture.

CV @ T284 - 1826AD

Spoiler :
Spoiler :

This will be my first Civ6-CV (hopefully), so I'm not yet really knowing what I'm doing! :crazyeye:

Well, this is what I've done so far:
- Settled Capital 1NE, to move away from the Woods Hill
- Built Slinger, Slinger, (got 1 Builder from GH), Slinger, Settler, Builder
- Had some Barb-Troubles: I destroyed 2 Camps in the first 35 turns, but lost 1 Slinger
- Met Jerusalem on T34 and Mexico-City on T37
- I'm the Suzerain of both at the moment, which Barbarossa obviously likes :mischief:
- 2nd City founded on T35, to the NW, between Wheat, Tobacco and Silver
- Assigned Liang to the Capital (T46) and Amani to Jerusalem (T62)
- Finally met 2 Civs: the Mapuche on T63 and Brazil on T64
- 3rd City founded on T67, near Yosemite, above the Amber
- 4th City founded on T82 on the Northern peninsula, between Rainforest and Seafood
- Pyramids completed in the Capital on T83
- Met the Germans on T83
- 5th City settled on T99, in the Tundra on the western end, between Iron, Silver and Deer
- Science Path: Mining, AH, Pottery, Archery, Irrigation, BW, (Sailing from GH), Writing, Masonry, Astrology, Wheel, Shipbuilding, Currency, Engineering, currently researching Horseback Riding
- Culture Path: Craftsmanship, State Workforce, Foreign Trade, Early Empire, Political Philosophy, Mysticism, Drama and Poetry, Military Tradition, Games and Recreation, Recorded History, currently working on Defensive Tactics

I'm certainly not happy with the Science and Culture I'm producing, but I don't know how I could have improved that so far.

Anyway, I plan on staying peaceful and founding another 2 cities around the central lakes

Well, there it is: only my 4th Civ6 Victory ever, and the 1st Culture Victory.
Also my first Civ6-GotM-submission, and still a whole lot to learn!

After my beginning described above, I ended up with 8 peacefully settled cities: 7 on my peninsula, southeast of Jerusalem and Mexico-City. The 8th city was founded between Brazil and Germany, to the North across the water.

But 8 cities wasn't enough, as I ended up with 3 unused Great Writers and 2 unused Great Musicians.

Nearly all my Tourism came from Great Works, with 8 Amphitheaters, 3 Archaeological Museums (1 themed) and 5 Art Museums (3 themed).
A few Wonders, only 1 National Park (as I didn't have more suitable spots, and I obviously didn't plan ahead :hammer2:) and only 1 Seaside Resort and 1 Ski Resort (which I got too late). 4 or 5 Concerts by 2 Rock Bands quite late as well, because I somehow completely ignored Science (and Faith) :hammer2::hammer2:

On the final turn, 327/411 raw Tourism came from Great Works!

I met Qin Shi Huang last and quite late; he eliminated Saladin early, before I met any of them. He was culturally the Strongest: he had 124 domestic Tourists in the end; next was Barbarossa with 92.

Probably my most peaceful Civ-game ever: my entire Army consisted of 4 Crossbowmen, 1 Swordsman, 1 Musketman, 1 Galley and 1 Frigate!

Thanks for the game

I was going for a Culture Victory, but the Diplomatic happened first. Settled in place then populated the chunk of land south of the two city states. The mountain range & city states nicely isolated my territory. 10 cities in that area, one across the water near Preslav. Have not done much with Civ6 till recently this was my 5th game, 1st as Canada. Slight altercation in the early 400s to free Zanzibar from Germany. Otherwise peaceful till about turn 480 when Germany send a GDR to visit.

Missed getting a religion and was annoyed since I was able to do so in my 4 previous games...until I saw how much the other civs spend on sending hordes of missionaries to convert my cities. I could still create faith buildings and units, so I am not really sure of the benefit of getting a religion other than defending from a religious victory.

Lagged behind a bit in research throughout the game.

I did learn that you could dismiss a stack of multiple notifications (such as 44 of the various combinations of city states making peace with each other) with a right-click in the little number. This was much more convenient than right-clicking the notification icon 44 times.

I bought the Rise & Fall & Gathering Storm expansions, but not New Frontiers and the mass of additional civs, so 62 appears to be the most recent 6otM that I can play.

I enjoyed playing and will see if I can find another 60tM that I can play. I still have to get used to focusing on a single path to victory.
