About the complain in Azum proposal that "how is Arabia ever going to need a frigate? Their whole thing is to go tall and turtle up. I think it's going to be a mostly unused component now." Arabia wants to get coastal to send cargo ships to other civs for historical events, so the new frigate will have a place in the civ strategy

Which is very historical!

I play a lot of Arabia and Hashemite Raiders are actually really fun and see a surprising amount of usage. When you get close to victory a lot of attacks happen, so an early strategic-free unit unlock is incredibly welcome. Defending against an invasion with a wacky army that mostly consists of freshly purchased skirmishers is a hilarious experience.

I wouldn't know what to do with the frigate, though. My naval strategy mostly consists of being skittish about settling on coast and prioritizing defense buildings. I usually don't have the production and unit cap for anything ambitious on that front.

I also conceptually really like having UU tank-replacement that's just a really good horse. Shows that some Civs successfully stuck with the basics and kinda represents what a mess early tanks were.

My understanding is that @azum4roll has proposed a replacement of Ethiopia’s UU with a new Oromo UU using the same art assets as the current Arabian Hashemite UU. This puts us in a bit of a bind, because if his Ethiopia proposal wins and his Arabia proposal fails then we have 2 UUs for different civs that look identical.

As of writing it looks like both of Azum’s proposals will pass, so the problem will be averted, but Maybe Ethiopia and Arabia’s votes should be collapsed into a single thread?

Let's cross that bridge if we come to it.
Indeed we can't use the same model for two different units, but surely more are available.
No one has come up with anything. Surely this should have been figured out by the end of the sponsorship phase.

We already do with Scythed Chariots.

I have a scythed chariot model, but it caused game crashes for some people. It exists, it just needs a little debugging.

I really hate that a stopgap, temporary measure I have been forced to make because of reported game crashes is somehow being used as evidence for some art assets Calvinball. I have done as much as I can to keep art and units distinct.

Hashemite survives by 1 vote :O
And thus the exact thing I suggested that maybe we should take steps to prevent has come to pass.

Great, now we have an early unlock Light Tank that can do AOE damage on both pillage and attack, have double movement in desert AND withdraw from melee.

Timestamp post to arrange all the threads in a neat order.
