Counterproposal to (8-44) azum4roll's Unit Supply Rework

Problems:
I agree that the supply in base Vox Populi is too high. However, I do not think that the per city empire size penalty is a good way to reduce supply. There are already Science, Culture, Tourism, Happiness, and Golden age penalties for acquiring a city. Not to mention that conquering a city from a neighbor can require a very large investment of resources and usually leads to other AI's deciding to punish you. Also, it doesn't really make sense to have a large empire have a similar size army as a small empire, especially when a large empire is going to have a much larger border to defend. It effectively makes expansionist strategies much less viable.

Proposal:
Empire Size Penalty is removed from the Unit Supply Rework. All other unit supply calculations are the same.

It's already been tested. A winning domination civ will have 500+ units without an empire size penalty.

You also completely missed the point that large empires don't have the supply cap as small empires.

They have a larger area to defend. Your previous reply assumed a perfectly circular expansion of an empire which is an ideal case.

They don't need a unit on every tile.

And why should you not be punished for expanding your empire thin?

I'm not saying they do, but I also think it punishes expansion far to much, and will make domination victories much less viable. It really comes down to the wide versus tall debate. I like to play wide, and I'm guessing you like to play tall. If you feel this strongly about it though, I can withdraw my proposal.
