9.1 carrier partisans

In 9.1 release, Egypt and I were trading a city back and forth every turn, and each time they captured it I got a carrier partisan (at least I presume that's what it is - it had no promotions like a MCS unit would have, and it was 2-3 times when I lost a city). Are they included because they're resourceless?

Thanks for bringing this up, I'll manually exclude carriers from the possibilities for partisans. Ships as a whole can be partisans (useful on water-heavy maps) and carriers happen to have high defensive strength. I've also taken the opportunity to update this so it only considers ships valuable if the city is highly coastal (>50% water around it), which is typically on archipelago maps.

I figured I'd post this here instead of starting a new thread as its probably not a bug.

When playing as England (whom I always rename to the Peoples Democratic Republic of South Yorkshire :D ) The +2 naval movement doesn't carry over when you upgrade your ships. I know its been like this for a while so I assume its deliberate. Is it simply to stop English navies being too OP? I'm just about to upgrade my SOLs to Ironclads and tbh the +2 movement won't make too much difference on top of the Great Lighthouse and merchant navy giving me +2move already, but I just thought I'd ask.

Good stuff. By the way does anyone else waste lots of time sending their movement 13 destroyers on a rotating patrol around their costal boundaries for no other reason than it looks cool? I'm guessing its just me but you never know.

Anyhow back to bug reporting:
Triremes no longer have access to the scouting range of promotions as of v.14

I'd really like the capability to set up an automatic patrol... I have no idea why they removed waypoints and patrols in this version of civ. :badcomp:

Are there particular circumstances where the naval recon promotions are unavailable for you, or is it right away?

Its just with triremes. I only have either +attack Vs land or +attack Vs sea promotions available to start with, no scouting at all. After lvl 1 it allows me to take hunter etc. Caravels start with scouting and work just fine. I've only noticed this in v.14

I noticed this in my .10? game as Germany. I wasn't sure if it's just a limitation of slavers.

Now with v.16 my triremes have all the promotions available again but unfortunatly English ships still lose their +2 naval movement when upgraded.

Just to confirm, with england in my current game I've tried upgrading triremes to caravels, caravels to frigates and ships of the line to ironclads and all lose their +2 naval movement bonus.

Is the promotion gold (upgrades) or silver (does not upgrade)? I thought I changed it to gold, but must have made a mistake somewhere if it's still silver... I'm investigating this further now.

Update: I did a test and the promotion is gold, persisting when I upgraded a Trireme to a Caravel. Try the things on the Common Checklist, especially the cache. If nothing on that list works, are there special circumstances when the promotion disappears after upgrading?

yeah in my game they are silver. I did a full reinstall of mods recently but I'll try doing one again and report back.

#edit
Just started a new game and built a trireme and now the promotion is gold. Seems to have fixed it but I'll let you know when I upgrade it.
