I am trying to install Civ 3 conquests on my laptop. C3C was installed previously on this same computer and ran fine, but I had to format last month. Now that I have reinstalled XP Professional, and have all the updates, and everything else runs GREAT on this computer, I can't get Civ to install. I always get a message like the following:

_is61D.tmp has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

The name of the file changes incrementally each time. :crazyeye: Does anyone know what is happening here? Please save me from endless boredom at work! :D

I have also uninstalled Civ3 to save space and have been unable to reinstall.

I get the same message (".tmp has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.") every time i try.

Have used CCleaner to remove any traces of the past install on my hard drive and in the registry but to no avail. I also tried reinstalling on my old computer with the same result.

If anyone knows how to fix this PLEASE tell me.

So it looks like the reinstall is what caused it. I didn't think of that because I actually formatted the hard drive and reinstalled windows. I guess I'll just have to buy a new computer.
