A Better AI.

There are indeed hidden AI diplo factors.
At higher difficulties all AI's have an automatic -1 with the human.
There is a thing called "Warmonger Respect" and it's counterpart "Peacemonger Respect" which gives a relationship boost to like-minded AI's (Monty likes Alexander, Mansa Musa likes Gandhi). This is why some AI's are "friends" from the very start.

Thanks i've also felt this kind of modifier just didn't know for sure.
It would be nice if we could sum up all these hidden modifiers don't you think?
(i understand if you had better things to do though :) )

I like that the governor now lets the city grow beyond its happiness/health limit under slavery but not under other society civic. Very intelligent.

Monty just built a dagger army here with a HUGE navy 0.o
I think I was pleased with him, and then I made a mistake of trade with his worst enemy and got -1 and then he atacked me oversea 0.o
I got completely owned in Navy, lost so many fishing nets! Had to buildd up a navy really fast, but I got luck that I got Asoka inside the war(dont ask!) and he was beside Monty, so Monty directed all his Navy on me(other continent, but right beside mine anyway) but no troops, all his troops went to his neighboor Asoka, poor guy :D
Later I drop the save here :)

nice :goodjob:

Cool!

And you even could not help Asoka out because of the naval 'blockade'.
Could have been terrifying :)

Here is a save of Industrial Era just before Modern Era(Im researching Radio). Now if you look close, you will see that Monty is owning me at the sea, just got 3 cities from Asoka and declared peace, Hatty is also(!!) with a huge Power, I saw 2 turns or so after Monty declare war on me 2 stacks with about 20 units each in Monty's territory(a sneaky Caravel passed the Navy block, but didnt least more than 1 turn heh  ), so I did bribe Asoka and Kublai Khan in(what else?), and the rest I told in my earlier post. Ah yeah, Kublai managed to raze a sht city in the ice of Monty lol.
But if you see culture..OMG   Loius is AHEAD OF ME!! Do you know when it ever happened??? NEVER! Im a culture fanatic! And look Hathy!! Omg! She was in front of me not long ago >.< That is why Im beelining Mass Media, wanna all those cultural wonders for me, and after that I get like 5 usufull techs and then put cultural slider to 100% 0.o Of course I have some GAs for cultural bomb, but if you heard me Blake, you probalby made the AI wait to use the GAs right in time, that is what Im afraid of >.<

Great game! I ay lose by cultural victory the first time!! LOVELY!

Save: <crap, 512kb, that is why I upload to uploading.com(same style of rapidshare, rapidshare servers are full right now lol)>

I had the same problem. I solved it by uninstalling my download manager and trying again.

My downloader did not like the special characters in the file name "-" and "_" .

I've been thinking about this as I finished up the game. I like how it all turned out... except for one thing. The huge standing army of early units which I found in Hatty's capitol means yes, she decided to do dagger. However, she didn't pull the trigger.

Were Hatty in good terms with the other leaders?
If she had been i think it's understandable then.
Backstabbing is uncommon in Civ4.
I think for a war declaration both hatred and a strong enough force are required for the AI (Hatty had the force :) )
I've found real backstabbing only with the 'aggressive AI' option turned on.

I don't have download manager and even tried to turn off the firewall which often causes download problems.

There are 43 units in the garrison for Thebes.

Yeah but only 1 catapult.
I think it could need a lookafter.
They should include many siege weapons in the dagger-army otherwise they could lose a lot against city garrisons.

Any site that it would work?

By the way, I put the chiplote on again cuz I want to see how much the AI trade late techs, the expensive ones, and you know what? They dont trade that much! A lot of World M trade anyway..

Noble has always had AI advantages. It gets a bonus against Barbs, it pays alot less for unit upgrades, and it has a much lower inflation rate than the human. In light of these new change, I think it's time to reexamine these bonuses and consider whether the AI needs them anymore. I'd really like to feel that playing on Noble was playing on a level filed for both human and AI.

It's not really a good idea to 'even everything out' in the bonus area because different rules apply for the AI and different for the human.
That's why default Noble is trying to be as even for bonuses as possible too not totally even.

Send it to me by email. I've sent the address to you by PM

Looks like from my point of view that the AI is a bit more pushed to attack the human rather than other AI, but its possible its just a side-effect of them being easier buddies with each other, with diplomatic bonuses like NEVER ask demands or help from each other(did somebody ever saw an AI with "you didnt give us help" or "you gave us help" with other AI??) and so on..

But then again I'm probably only one more whiner peace-dude..

AI to AI hatred still develops.
Like when an AI asks for a trade embargo and you accept the asker also gets a -1 modifier "you negotiated a trade embargo against us" from the target AI just like you "you stopped trading with us".

So if you choose your alliance politics well AI's will be well divided not just in their opinion on you but on each other as well.

It's sure if you send everybody away you'll be hated by everybody.
And you can't please everybody (as you can see by the above example you get a -1 modifier either way, if you refuse you get a -1 from the asker).
You must take sides.

Why there is like 20 galleons sitting around in a city of Louis? 0.o I think he doesent even have enough offensive troops for fill it all lol

Kettyo: All I want is the AI to pick sides also with demands between each other hehe, but we already discussed it!

Yeah i thinked about that but could not find a well working implementation.
Do you have any idea?
What decision factors to take in?
When and which civ will take a demand and how you evaluate the benefit of an accept or refusal by the asked civ?
The AI is a program, driven by scripts, don't have goals and feelings just calculates.

Anyway everybody can have a good idea (i still haven't).
I suppose that's what could help Blake really.
Ideas and experiences.

I was playing a week ago on the 2.08 patch, in fact it was on the wotm 3. pi ramsees showed up on my doorstep with enough artillery and trebuchets to take my entire stack down out of my city. There were approx. 12-15 units in my city. I was thinking I was going to go kick his ass( i had already taken over a couple of other AI to the vassal stage and was gearing up to stab into his territory)I had an attacking party of 6-8 knights and 3-4 cats and a couple of long bows for defense(leftovers) and then a couple of warriors.

My point? He had 12-15 siege units in a stack of about 30 units. That took me by surprise... needles to say it wasn't long before he was in my capital.

I can't wait to see what the next few months bring for this fantastic game.

I´m finally having an even challenge throughout all the game! :D

Before, if I played in Prince, the beggining was a challenging, but the endgame easy. But in Monarch, the early game was utterly difficult and I could only catch up later with boring tactics.

Now in prince I´m having an even challenge in all eras! Thanks Blake! :goodjob:

Arlborn,

A Monty/Shaka/Louis vs Hatsy/Ghandi war seems imminent in your current game

Neither side could be called your friends really. ;)
No matter i'd join Hatsy in your place and try to hit Louis's culture citadels.

Exactly my point.

If an AI chooses the "dagger" strategy, while the AI is on good terms with all neighbors, and the AI is not willing to be a backstabber herself, then that is a poor decision.

About the ONLY time this might be a good idea is if the AI recognizes that a neighbor is also or has a strong possibliity of going dagger, plus the neighbor has a strong possibility of being a backstabber. (Humans should be assumed to be backstabbers until proved differently.) Thus, the "dagger" strategy would be chosen only as a defensive move. It still, nevertheless, is a bad choice. It's simply the least bad of several options. (Let's see... get "pwned" by the human, or build a huge defensive army and ****** my future development....)
