Quoting myself from the forum where I found the link to this very interesting website:

Thanks for posting that link to that very interesting and atmospheric journey into the 'dead zone' around Chernobyl. Some of the images were remarkable, such as the one showing just how close that town was to the scene of the disaster and how prominent a feature the power plant was.

It is incredible how little Chernobyl is mentioned in popular culture or via history programs or documentaries considering what a global reach the disaster had and the scale and longevity of suffering and desolation it has and will cause.

You may visit the website by following the link below:

Tell me what you think or know about this area of the World or the Chernobyl disaster that may be of interest or what you thought of the linked website :)

Wow, that was quite intense. I feel slightly humbled by that.

Seems kinda stupid though, tramping around in this intensely radioactive are with a motorcycle and a leather jacket? Wouldn't a chemical radioactive suit (or monkey) be better?

Hmm, interesting that the camera worked, I thought it would be affected by the radiation . . .

I didn't - they were quite recent and received a fair bit of airing.

Well, I missed them completely and I visit off-topic most days, sometimes on several occasions!

Well, no real harm done. Last time I open a thread I tell you!

Don't let it deter you in future. :)

I had the same problem being relatively new to OT. I've been quite conscientious with the Search button although it's not always easy to pin down the topic.

I hadn't seens this before- so thanks Kitten! It is fascinating. I read of an upcoming computer game based on the idea of entering the dead zone around Chernobyl and encountering mutations and what not. Might be worth a look.

Yeah, there's nothing better than riding around Chernobyl in a radioactive suit.

(Follow the R in my sig and go to the links section...or go into the main website if you want to wander around and read crazy stuff.)

EDIT: I know you like Muse, so you might as well go to the source and start liking Radiohead. ;)

The pictures remind me of Fallout (the game).
