I don‘t like playing pangea, for you will dont't need any naval units at all, I also don’t like maps that have a constant shape, like inland_sea, so I always choose to play contient. But after so many continent game, I just get a litttle bored of it, will Continent_plus be more fun? What are the main difference between these two? Is there any other interesting map types to play with?

I also remembered that there was a thread explaining all types of maps, but I just can't find it. Could anyone give me a hand? Thanks!

Continents Plus is kinda poor IMO. They add a few extra landmasses, which is good, but each of those get occupied by City States.
Small Continents and Small Continents Plus however is rather interesting. You're guaranteed a coastal capital, but other then that, if you put the Sea level to low, there's a lot of land still to claim.

The main difference is that is continents, CS will spawn on the main continents, while in continents plus, they usually spawn on islands off of the main continents, with only a few remaining on the continents.

From my own experiences it seems that continent plus adds more islands and places city states mostly on them - personally I love it, as nothing is more annoying for me as city states in the middle of continents/empires.

I recommend Earth True Start Locations maps, my favourite by far, but they require mods ;0

Continents plus (& Pangena plus) are mostly for players that keep getting tired of seeing city states on the main landmasses taking spots that ruin good city placement.

But in addition, the Indonesian civ would also play better on the plus maps (if they can find an island NOT occupied by a city state)

If you want a game enforcing you to build naval ships; then both the large islands & small islands script will do this.

I like Small Continents sometimes. It strikes a good balance between continent-style play and a bit more water -- not nearly as bad as Archipelago in that respect -- and you are less likely to have the usual 2-continent "oh I wonder which civ on the other continent is going to be the complete and total runaway" problem.

Communitas map script is like continents, but better
