A Complete Guide to Achievements (Civ V)

Civilization V - A Complete Guide To Achievements
Scenario Achievements
These achievements can only be unlocked in a scenario. Many people report them as broken after trying to unlock them in a normal game, because they are not labeled properly.

These require DLC.

Scenario 04 - 1066: Year of Viking Destiny
These require Denmark - The Vikings DLC.
  • Fetchez la Vache! - Build a Motte and Bailey improvement.
  • Odin's Chosen Warrior - Win as Denmark.
  • Pillage, Then Burn - Pillage 9 farms on the same turn.
  • Purple People Eaters - Win as Norway.
  • Surviving Domesday - Win on Immortal.
  • Surviving Ragnarok - Win on Deity.
  • This was their Finest Hour - Win as Anglo-Saxon England.
  • Time to Stitch a Tapestry - Win as Normandy.
  • You The Conqueror - Win on Emperor.

For these achievements, you see they requise Vikings DLC and you present them in a scenario.

For me, I unlocked "Pillage, Then Burn" without scenario, just in the normal game. I have got the DLC but I don't play a scenario (except "Wonders of the Ancient World" once) but ever the scenario "1066: Year of Viking Destiny". More, I unlocked this achievement with Maria I (Portugal).

An other little question...
In the first message, Ragan651 has presented the achievements per version (Vanilla, G&K, BNW) but I didn't find details to know if a achievement is unlockable in next versions. Example : I unlocked "With Liberty and Justice for All" with G&K but it seems I have to Vanilla version for "Diplomacy by Other Means", "Freedom Isn't Free", "With an Iron Fist"... I don't understand...

In the base game, Ideologies didn't exist. Freedom, Order, and Autocracy were social policies trees like Tradition, Honor, etc.

To get those achievements, you will have to load the base game without using Brave New World. I'm not sure if it was still like that in God's and Kings, someone else might know.

I'll confirm AdelineJ's statement, that "Pillage then Burn" is NOT required to be done in the 1066 scenario. I just got the achievement in the Into the Renaissance scenario.

Is it possible to publish a table to resume this subject of achievements and versions ?
  • some achievements are only unlockable after a version
  • other in all versions
  • other only before a version

For example, look the picture.

I doubt anyone has such a table at the ready, but you should feel free to compile and publish a table like that. I'm sure others would find it useful.

I'm going to try to make this table.
I know to do that with libreoffice, but not with [ TABLE] [/TABLE ]... (I wrote spaces to publish tags). What tags do I have to use for lines and for columns ? Thanks ;)

Thank you !
I made the table but I didn't finish to complete it.

I have numbered achievements to facilitate reading and quoting.
If you have unlocked an achievement with a version that isn't checked, inform me and I will add this version.
For a scenario, thank you to specify the name of scenario and version. In second post, I will indicate details.

x : unlockable without scenario
* : unlockable in scenario (see the second post for details)
- : impossible
empty : not specified

For scenario, I thank that indicating more details would be important.
In the first post, I can’t write them because of the number of characters. So I published a second post.

Not sure if anyone's said it but Picket's Recharge works, I got it today on my first attempt. First promotion was picket so I rushed Gettysburg and got the achievement.
