A customization of Play the World Extended

Hey guys, hoping i'm posting this in the right spot, looking for some tips on modding :)


I've played civ for many years and particularly enjoyed Rhye's mods. Since there unfortunately isn't one available for civ 5, i've decided to look at creating my own mod.

Now, i'm pretty sure i'm not gonna be able to make a Rhye's mod so i've been looking at starting out with some basic things:

- Increasing movement with tecs: 1 movement before wheel, two movement after, 3 movement with machinery and 5 with combustion. the same goes for ships with ship tecs

- Making neutral settlers in either goody huts or barbarian settlers that turn into your settlers when captured. This is to force colonization of North and South America.

- making it possible for cities who aren't built on coast to build ships when their territory has reached waters, and if they're built next to a river. Also, the city must be able to work in the water (no more than tree tiles away).

- providing additional bonuses for coastal cities, +1 gold in all river tiles. (the Colossus should provide +2 gold total).

I'm looking for any good tips and advice regarding these projects, i'm a complete noob so if one of these are quite difficult to create i'd love to know which one so i can decide if i should go on with it or try something more simple.
I'm currently making this in the Play the World giant earth map.
