[1] I saved my game at 1245 AD game time, just before installing the patch. Right after I installed the patch, I loaded my last saved game, and it now listed the date as 1195 AD.

[2] the 'exploit', as I read someone as putting it, where, while directing navel units into the 'darkness', it's possible to make out obstacles, coastlines, etc. works with all navel units, not just caravels.

[3] I have reloaded the game so often that I must have heard that Baba Yetu tune more than all the Civ4 in-game music combined.

[4] I don't understand why the developers found it necessary to make a turn based strategy game so graphics intensive that nobody can play it. Is this their idea of improvement? Add a little religion, more graphics than any 3 current first person shooters and re-release a slightly modified Civ3? When I think improvements over Civ3, I think instead of unison combat (instead of turn based), a better map grid (instad of graph paper) and enhanced discussions/transactions between leaders. In my opinion, turn based games don't need graphics makeovers -- they need strategy enhancements. Nothing like squandering a loyal fan base on a cheesy product.

[5] I found that when I was late in the game (approx 1300 AD in game years; I say late because soon after this, gameplay became prohibitively laggy), every time I tried to scroll the map by moving the cursor arrow to the edge, the game would crash. Nice to have a degree of consistency with my frustration!
