Two things were the strangest :
Spoiler :

The fun thing , I ve never seen so many AI afraid at the same time so late. It might be due to me being 10 nuke missiles this turn.

Now the really strange thing , look at the minimap , at least half the map is not used at all ! on 1900 they were noone past polynesia. It s not just the fact that noone did expand there , which is already pretty strange , but noone spawned there :crazyeye:

I tough the script was distributing the civs on the map ,but here it just spawned everyone on half a map. And the second half was so rich and all ...

It might come from the map type but I ve no clue which one it is since it was a full random game start.

In BNW ...
Friends + nukes (even 1 of them in my experience) = Afraid

Don't know if their acquisition of nukes changes that. It's just that nukes have such a large power factor. BTW, 'Afraid' allows you to demand stuff from them, but since I haven't used it I don't know if it'll change the Afraid to Guarded.

And thanks for the reminder! :)

Looks like it could be Terra, which puts all civs on 1 continent ... leaving the other to barbs.

You are in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire. So don't expect much people to live on or past the Dothraki Sea.

But seriously, that map does kind of look like it. Byzantine is the Free Folks, Siam is House Stark, Morocco is House Baratheon, both Renly and Stannis, Polynesia is House Targaryens, and you are House Lannister.

Are you playing on a terra map? If not that, maybe it was a Pangea map that accidentally split the continent in two, allowing for civs to only spawn on one of the two continents.

I've had this before, and the AI is really bad about taking over the empty continent yet it spams cities in empty tundra. Makes no sense

I don t think I do , since it was Random and i think that terra wouldn t be included as a possible result.

Beware of barbarians.

In general, the AIs will only colonize continents which already have other civs on them. They usually won't establish cities on completely empty continents (which only have city-states and barbarians).

That's odd, whilst the AI does seem better at settling on continents with other people on (and usually the spot between my 2 cities, even if they had to cross half the globe to get there >:C), I have seen them settle on barren ones before (but only small/medium islands), so its very likely to do with no one spawning there. Also, I've seen the AI expand a LOT less than pre-BNW, which in turn makes more barbs, which makes it harder for the AI to settle.

Also, nukes will make people afraid, whats NOT scary about the thought of someone being able to ruin nuclear fire on your capital via the push of a button?
