I want to start off by saying hello. i have played all of the civilization games over the years i did miss revolutions tho. i really liked civ. 4 but lost the disk. over the last few years i have been busy with life and forgot about the civ games. (life happens) about a week or two ago i on on the net and found civ. 5. i was going to pick it up in the store the next day but my wife downloaded it. i did not think it was possable to download a game as big as civ.
anyway i play on the chieftain lvl most of the time, sometimes i play on the one easer then that just so i can really kick ass. i like to play with the Americans and on the earth map. and yes most of the time i end up going for a domination victory.

i have been reading the stickys but i have a few questions.
----i have played on earth 3 times now all with different civ.'s and every time i start in Africa. is this normal?
i had more questions but now that i am typing i can't recall them. i guess I'll have to come back :)
thanks guys

I've never started in the new world, always have started in Europe or Asia, with 1 Africa start. I know you can start in the americas, but I've never been that lucky.

The luckiest start I ever had was a start just north of the great lakes
ther was a ruin one tile away from my settler . When I founded my city the ruin instantly
gave me plus 1 population. On turn 1 or 2 my warrior captured a settler from a city state
that for some reason hadn't founded itself, this gave me an instant worker. Best start I ever had. I was playing on Prince level at the time.(I have since graduated to King, and have never had a start like that). The only place I have never started on the Earth Map is Australia. I have always found the Earth map to be a bit easier to play. (so much room, and easier
to get luxury resources)
