[This game is on Monarch difficulty with the Hittites. The map is Standard, Continents, Wet, Warm, and 4 billion years of age.]

(Yes, I am crazy. The Hittites really suck. I figure I'll give them at least one game, and then never use them again.)

4000BC- I lead the tribe of Hittites. My people grow tired of
wandering, and decide to settle down where we are. I insist that
we search for better lands with more water, but they don't
listen. I at least convince them that a location on the nearby sea
would be better. Meanwhile, some of my clan still wander and
explore the land. In the mountains to the north, they met a small
wandering tribe much like ours used to be. This tribe showed the
explorers how to properly bury the dead in order to please the
gods. How nice of them.

Hit4000BC.JPG

3950- After 50 years, the village of Hattusas is founded. I'm not
pleased with where we settled, but at least the forests are full of
game so that we need not fear starvation. I then set up a
science program so that we may eventually know the secrets of
Bronze. Meanwhile in the northwest, the explorers tell me of two
interesting things. First, they have found herds of great beasts
called Elephants which have tusks of Ivory. Ivory is supposed to
be some sort of luxury, so if we can get some, it might make the
people happy. Secondly, there are rumors of another settled
town like our own. Who could it be?

3900- The rumors were true after all. There are people in the
northwest who call themselves 'Americans.' Intrigued by this
new clan, I personally meet with an American emissary who
offers me the knowledge of Masonry and 4 of their shiny coins in
exchange for knowledge of our system of letters. Sounds like a good deal to me, so I accept.

3750- Things have been quiet and peaceful for a while. I grow
curious about the surrounding lands, wondering if we could find
other clans like the Americans. Another group of explorers is sent
out for this purpose.

3700- The new explorers head East and encounter a small tribe
much like the one that gave us Ceremonial Burial so long ago.
These people decide they would like to live under my rule! What
a great surprise! The Hittite clan now has a second city, called
Tarsus. I receive some bad news, though. The area around
Hattusas and Tarsus has no fresh water! How will my people
survive without water?

3650- Further in the west, the explorers spot a city over some
hills. They thought it was another American town, but apparently it's a completely new nation called Sumer.
I am rather displeased to find out that these Sumerians already know the secrets of
Bronze when my scientists have fruitlessly toiled for many years
trying to unravel its mysteries. I offer them the knowledge of
Masonry if they'll teach us the workings of Bronze and give us
some of their shiny coins too. Thankfully they take the offer. My
scientists now change their efforts and instead focus on
developing The Wheel. The tell me they can build a great weapon with that knowledge. We'll see.

3500- Another new clan is discovered by the explorers. A warrior
clad in orange approached them from the mysterious northern
frontier. It comes from the tribe of England. I meet with some
English emmisaries, but they claim to have no knowledge that we don't already know. A pity.
I immediately dismiss the English as a worthless clan.

3350- I meet with American emissaries again. They claim to have
much new knowledge, including The Wheel! Selfishly, they refuse to trade any of it to us.

3050- America still won't trade with us, but the Sumerians are
perfectly happy to tell us how to train archers with the Warrior
Code in exchange for our system of letters.

2900- The scientists at last discover how to make The Wheel.
Sadly, there are no horses nearby that would allow us to build
the weapon they call the Chariot. I order the scientists to now
try to unravel the secrets of Iron.

2750- The explorers find wild horses to the north, beyond America. They're sadly too far to bring back to Hattusas. My
military advisors claims we might be able to reach them if we just
got America out of the way. I must consider this advice.

2630- The explorers discover a small tribe in a swamp far to the
West. Amazingly, they give us the knowledge that America kept
from us!

2310- Those nasty Americans once again have knowledge they
refuse to trade. I offer them many of our shiny coins for it, but
they refuse. Then the emissaries demand that I just give them
the money instead! Of course I refused. So then the Americans
declared war against us. How dare they!
About the same time, some of our settlers built a new city called
Ugarit right next to the American capital near the Elephant herds. I fear the city may not survive long.

2150- We discover Iron Working for ourselves. We have no iron,
unfortunately. The Americans so far have sent no troops against
us, but scouts report there are many warriors moving around to the north of Hattusas.
I dispatch some spearmen to hopefully
destroy those warriors before they can attack my cities.

2070- The spearmen do not move fast enough, and many
American warriors attack Ugarit. One of our warriors dies, but
another one successfully fends off the remaining attackers.
Desperately, my troops counter-attack and manage to kill a group of warriors, but in the process our spearmen were also killed.

1950- Now the English come demanding money from us! I submit however, because a second war would cost us more than the pennies they demand from us.

1910- And now Sumeria makes demands! This is ridiculous! I
must submit, however. I swear that these evil clans will be
punished in the future!

1870- American warriors attack Ugarit again, but my warriors are
victorious! Meanwhile a new city called Harran is founded in the mountains north of Tarsus.
In the mountains they discover an underwater spring that will give us fresh water at last!

1725- All of the explorers return home to Hattusas with a look of
sadness. Apparently they have explored all that there is to find
on this continent. Instead, they start making plans to find more lands beyond the great sea.
At this moment, Hittite Archers and Warriors are attacking
America. Their cities are too well defended with Spearmen, so my
troops instead tear up the American roads and irrigated fields.
This will teach them to demand things from me!

1575- Boldly, my archers attack the American capital and are
victorious in battle! Unfortunately, the city has too many
spearmen and my troops are forced to retreat anyway. Tired of
fighting, I offer peace to the Americans. With my troops at their capital, they are quite willing to pay us for a treaty! Excellent.

The known world at the end of the war:
Hit1575BC.JPG

Notes: I don't like the Hittites at all. They're my least favorite of
the new civs. I suspect many others don't like the Hittites either,
so maybe they can experience this new civ through my eyes
instead of having to use the Hittites themselves.

Just my luck that I'd start next to another Expansionist civ.
America jumped way ahead in tech by popping huts before I
could. Having no fresh water has made expansion very difficult. I
also lack both Horses and Iron, so wars are quite difficult.
America has Iron, though, so I'll try to destroy them with Archers
later. I may also try to build the Statue of Zeus and use Ancient Cavlry. Sadly, the English have taken the only source of Horses
nearby, so I may not ever get to use the Hittite UU.
Dunno if I should keep going the way I am or try to make this more like a story.

Interesting, I like it! It reminds me of the way I write my story. If you have some time you can read mine here if you want. Mine is called "The Babylonian People" if you ever want to read it. I say keep writing as you are, but its your choice. I'll still read this story anyways. Crush those Americans! I say mobilize your forces now so when the 20 turn peace treaty is over you can take them out. If you take them out now you save yourself the trouble of facing a stronger opponent later, plus they are seriously blocking your expansion. So take this advice into consideration if you want. :goodjob:

I've already read your story about the Babylonians, Resistor. It's an interesting story too.

I will try to destroy the Americans. Hopefully I can build up lots of Archers in the next few centuries. I'll just be satisfied with taking Boston for its Iron resource
Then maybe I'll build the Statue of Zeus and take over the whole continent!

That's the attitude to have. You gotta control the world, or in this case the continent, or the world will control you.

The years after the war were peaceful. A few new cities were founded, more infrastructure made, but it was mostly uneventful. They were just years of building.

1525- The scientists discover the technology of Writing.
Now the people can start to read and write! I order the
scientists to research more into this writing and learn Literature
so that we can copy all of our knowledge into books.

1450- A fifth city is added to the Hittite clan. This one is
called Tyrana, and it is located on a hill near the lands of England.

1250- A road has been built across the mountains so that the precious Ivory
can be transported from Ugarit to Hattusas. The people in the city rejoice
and in celebration begin constructing a statue dedicated to Zeus, the newly proclaimed God of Ivory.
HitZeus.JPG

1225- A sixth city called Aleppo has been built by the sea near Tyrana.
My advisors now say there is no land left for us to settle since the Americans
and English have taken it all. My military advisor is suggesting there are
alternative ways to gain new land, however...
Here is a map showing the new territory.
Hit1225BC.JPG

1100- The scientists learn Literature at last. They now tell
me to order the construction of Libraries - buildings full of
books - to help them in their research. I promise to do so as
soon as possible. For now I tell them to learn how to make maps
and build ships to cross the sea.
Emissaries from Sumeria tell us of a new way to worship the gods, called
Polytheism. They won't tell us exactly what it is, though, even when I
offer them knowledge of Iron Working and Writing. Why must my neighbors be so selfish?

1025- Oh, that nasty Sumeria now demands Iron Working from us!
I prefer peace and give them the knowledge. They will regret
this later when their cities burn beneath the feet of my army.

875- The statue dedicated to Zeus has been completed! People from
all over the lands of my clan travel to Hattusas to see it.
Even people from other clans come to marvel at its beauty.
A tribe of wandering horsebacked warriors were so amazed that they
pledged allegiance to the Hittite clan and promised to send us one of their finest warriors every 5 years.
HitZeus2.JPG

Notes: America and England had me choked off worse than I thought. I only got in two more cities. I could possibly settle in some jungle between England and America, but it would be a sitting duck in the wars to come. I swear to destroy those nations anyway, so I'll just take the land later. I didn't get a chance to build any new military other than two Archers. Once I've got a few Ancient Cavalry, I'll probably swoop in on America. They will be the first to pay for their evil ways.

EDIT: The pictures might work if I'd actually remembered to upload them! Fool....

710BC- My scientists now know how to make maps! Immediately I order
the construction of ships so that we may chart the seas! Next they begin
researching Philosophy which they tell me will be useful, though it sounds
kind of pointless to me.

650- The Americans once again make demands of us. This time we are ready
for war and flatly reject their demands. Like scared little dogs, they run
back to their towns with their tails between their legs. They promise to
destroy us....later. I doubt they'll get the chance.

610- Now the English demand Writing from us. We refuse again, and they retreat!
Maybe the Hittite clan is gaining some respect at last.
Meanwhile I declare war on the worthless Americans. Our new mounted
warriors - called Ancient Cavalry - thirst for battle. I'll let them
sate themselves on the towns of America!

570- A combined force of Archers and Ancient Cavalry attack Boston and capture it!
HitBoston.JPG

550- The scientists discovery Philosophy. Somehow, this inspires them to create
an official Currency so that everybody in the clan will use the same type of shiny coin.
Now I order the scientists to research a Code of Laws so that I can better govern our nation.
About the same time I finally manage to acquire knowledge of Polytheism, as well as
Construction, from the Sumerians.

510- The first ship of what will hopefully become a great navy sets sail from Tarsus.
It heads South where a distant shore has been spotted across the waters.

470- The army has now reached the American capital! The city falls to our forces,
though many Archers die in the process. They'll garrison Washington while waiting
for Cavalry reinforcements.
Meanwhile, the ship indeed finds an island to the south. Immediately Settlers are
recruited to found a city there.

450- The ship continues scouting and spots Horses on the southern island! What luck!
Now I desire to settle it even more.

390- Many Ancient Cavalry approach New York, the new American capital.

370- Cavalry and Archers attack New York. During the battle, a great leader Suppiluliumas
takes charge and leads the troops to victory. Our forces win the day, but a few troops still
hold out in the city. The leader returns to Washington to build an Army to help subjugate America.
HitGL.JPG

350- It is a busy year. First the Code of Laws was discovered by the scientists who immediately
started researching the Republic, a new way of ruling the nation. I think I rule this nation well
enough by myself, but most of my advisors insist that the people would be much happier under a
new system. At the same time, the city of Ankuwa is founded on the southern island.
Then my troops attack New York again and are completely victorious this time. However,
in the resulting victory celebration, the soldiers accidentally burned the city to the ground. Oh well.

Here is the new island:
HitAnkuwa350BC.JPG

270- Oh, those horrible little Sumerians built a city where New York used to stand!
I wanted that land! It's not fair.
Meanwhile, Suppiluliumas' Army is attacking Philadelphia with great success.

190- Philadelphia is also burned to the ground. Those troops are really getting careless.

110- Suppiluliumas attacks Atlanta and burns it to the ground as well. I praise his victories,
but scold him for being so careless. The Heroic Epic that our scribes are currently writing about
Suppiluliumas will probably have to leave out those mistakes. Fortunately, this time I have a
Settler ready to fill in the space left behind.
The Americans have only one city left, but it is far away and our troops would take too long to reach.
So I grant peace to America. I try to demand that they pay for the privilege, but we've hurt them so
badly that they literally have nothing to give us!
I begin preparing for a war against the evil Sumerians.

Notes: Those damn Americans had all size 1 cities, so I had no choice but to raze. I still got a
little territory, at least. The Sumerians really pissed me off, though. They appeared with a
Settler immediately after New York burned. I don't know how, but they got some culture in that
new city really quickly. Must've rushed something, I guess.
Sumeria is my next target since they're getting a bit too big for my tastes.
In Hattusas, I have the Lighthouse being built, but I hope to change it to Hanging Gardens if
I can get Monarchy from Sumeria before I destroy them. If not, I can immediately switch it to
Heroic Epic or Mausoleum of Mausolos and complete either in 1 turn. Then again, maybe I
should build the Lighthouse anyway and explore the seas more.
What do my readers think I should build?

Double post because of the limit on pics in one post:

Our territory in 110BC, showing the destroyed American cities:

Hit110BC.JPG

Chicago can be seen in the distance, surrounded by Sumeria.

70BC- The city of Kadesh is built on the ruins of Atlanta.

50BC- My advisors tell me that I can build something called the
Forbidden Palace. They claim it would be like a second capital
for our empire. However, I realize that building a second capital
would probably detract from the original capital.

10AD- It's a new millenium for us, according to the calendar.
And what better way to ring in the next thousand years than a war
with Sumeria! Stupidly, Sumerian emissaries demand Ivory from us!
I tell them that we will never give away our Ivory without a fair trade.
So they say they'll just take it by force! How rude of them! They will
have to die for this.

30AD- Suppiluliumas returns to the battlefield and captures the Sumerian
border town of Bad-tibira. However, Ancient Cavalry troops attacking
Kisurra (the city built where New York used to be) are badly defeated.
They barely manage to retreat while being chased by Sumerian swordmen.

70- My advisors have betrayed me! First, they told me that the scientists
finally discovered secrets of The Republic and we should change governments
immediately. But then during the government transition, my advisors started
a rebellion that they had been long planning. I managed to escape to Tarsus
where I am gathering my forces to defeat the rebel advisors. Three factions
have appeared during the rebellion. The first faction, led by the advisors,
hopes to make my former military advisor the new dictator. The second is my
own faction which would put me back in charge as a monarch. The third,
smallest faction is led by peasants from around the clan who still hope to
create a republic government.
Meanwhile the Sumerian War continues. Loyal Suppiluliumas will take full control
of the military and can hopefully crush Sumeria by the time this rebellion ends.

90- The revolution is going well, and we are winning many victories over the
Despot Faction. The Sumerian War isn't going as well, though. With the revolution
splitting the military, we're having difficulty holding on to our cities. Sumerian
Swordmen approach Bad-tibira and there are too many to defend against, so the town
is burned to the ground as Suppiluliumas retreats. He heads for the city of
Lagash, hoping to secure it instead. The gamble pays off and Lagash is captured!
HitFlee.JPG

130- Kisurra is attacked again, but this time the battle goes even worse! The
Cavalry can't retreat back to Washington before some Sumerian Swordmen will attack them!

150- Disaster strikes! First, the Cavalry at Kisurra are indeed killed! Then the
citizens of Lagash rise up in revolt and kill Suppiluliumas! At this rate, we'll lose the war!!
I swallow my pride and ask Sumeria for peace. We must have scared them a bit because
they were willing to give us some money for a treaty, but I consider the war to be a total failure for us.
I hope this revolution ends soon. The Despot Faction is almost crushed, but the Republic Faction
is gaining popularity due to dissatisfaction about the war. I'm not sure we can take on both factions.

170- Will the problems never cease? England, seeing our weakness, declares war on us!
I don't know if we can fight them off after our terrible losses in the last war.
At last the revolution finally ends, but we are forced to negotiate with the Republic Faction.
A final showdown at Hattusas led to a stalemate, and we came to a compromise.
The government of the Hittite nation will become a Republic, but I will be allowed to take
the highest position as Prime Minister within the new government. I have less power now,
but at least I am still in charge.

210- A great Lighthouse has been built in Hattusas to celebrate the end of the Revolution.
It also functions to guide ships, and so a great Golden Age of sea exploration begins!

230- English troops approach Tyrana, but our Ancient Cavalry manage to fight off most of them.

250- According to my new advisors, our discoveries have led to a new era that they call the Middle Ages.
The middle of what, I ask. They don't really seem to have an answer.
Meanwhile, the English send new troops to Tyrana. We are just barely holding them off.

270- The battle at Tyrana continues. At the same time, a new city called Hubishna is
founded northwest of Washington between Kisurra and Lagash. The advisors warn me this is
rather "aggressive" but I don't care. It helps isolate Kisurra, and it gets us a source of Furs!
Also, a new island is found East of England. A Settler is prepared to build a town there too.

320- Those evil English built a city on the new island first. I immediately send some troops to destroy it!

330- Scientists discover Feudalism and begin studying a new religion called Monotheism.
Then troops land on the English island.

340- Sadly, two full contingents of Swordmen are killed by a small group of Spearmen
on the English island. I just have terrible luck, don't I?

350- My troops make a desperate attack on the English city of Hastings and capture it!
The English now ask for peace, but I make them pay for the privilege. They actually
give us the island city in negotiations. What great luck!

Our new acquisitions:
HitHastings.JPG

HitLiverpool.JPG

Notes: I had horrible RNG luck this time, and made some bad decisions. I think every attack I made on Kisurra
ended in a retreat. About 4 or 5 Ancient Cavalry were retreated by one Enkidu Warrior! Then
having my Army lost in the culture flip of Lagash was a terrible loss for me. If I hadn't
lost that Army, I might've been able to actually beat up the Sumerians a little more.
Leaving Bad-tibira undefended was a really, REALLY stupid idea. I had some Spears on the
way, but they couldn't get there in time. If I'd just had Suppiluliumas wait there a few
more turns, he might still be alive. Also, holding a revolution during the middle of a war
was just plain idiotic. I thought I had enough soldiers, but I didn't expect to have so many
Ancient Cavalry get killed by the RNG. I should have waited so I could've at least maybe
sent some reinforcements.
Losing two Vet Swords to one Reg Spear at Liverpool (the island city) was also bad. Good
thing I still got the city in the peace treaty negotiations. The English War overall was
pretty easy. They sent lots of swords to Tyrana at first, but the attack dwindled quickly.
By the time I ended it, they were only sending a few Spearmen into my territory trying to
pillage. I should've pressed the attack more, but I want to gather more forces before fighting
any more major battles. My plan now is to build the Knights Templar and destroy Sumeria later.
Corruption is starting to get bad, but I can't build the Forbidden Palace. Damn FP bug.
I curse the name of whatever genius who tried to "fix" corruption in C3C.
At least I have my Golden Age now. One of the reasons I went to Republic immediately was so that
I could get out of Despotism before the Great Lighthouse triggered my Golden Age.

Your battle with the RNG may be not be going well, but your writing is. I particularily like the way you described the change in government. With your next army, you may wish to bring along a few extra units for garrison duty, instead of risking the army like that. Write On!

Heh, thanks. I feel that the government change needs an explanation sometimes. I mean, why exactly is there a revolution? It's not as if you're overthrowing yourself.

As for the army, my main mistake was splitting my forces. I tried to go for a pincer attack. First, Suppiluliumas would keep the main Sumerian force at bay while Ancient Cavs took Kisurra. After taking that city, I would've united my forces and swept through the Sumerian core. Of course the best laid plans....
Losing at Kisurra doomed me from the start Supp alone wasn't enough to take on Sumer. I went for a desperate gamble at Lagash that...well, you know how that went.

Thanks again for reading. I'll probably have a new part tomorrow.
Will I get to punish the Sumerians at last?

400AD- The past many years have been uneventful. After the English War,
a great peace has settled over the land, so things are very quiet. The religion
of Monotheism has been discovered at last. Now the scientists try to create a
new code for our soldiers called Chivalry.

430- I am told that the so-called "golden age" for our nation has ended.

480- The scientists finish researching Chivalry. Now they try to develop
Engineering to build bridges across the many rivers of our land.

490- A foreign coastline is spotted far to the northwest by our ships. They
will attempt to cross the seas and explore the new land, but the distance is
great and the waters dangerous. Will they make it?

500- The ships sent to the northwest coast are never heard from again.
I will send ships once more, but this will be our last attempt.

520- The second fleet of ships is also never heard from again...

540- A group of Knights calling themselves the Knights Templar have
begun to gather in the city of Harran. The speak of a Crusade against our evil
neighbors. I am all too happy to welcome them into the Hittite military.
HitTemplar.JPG

570- The scientists discover Engineering. Now they work on something called Invention.

640- Tired of the long, boring peace, I declare war on Sumeria
(with approval from the Senate, of course).

650- The border city of Der is captured (near where Bad-tibira used to be).

660- The city of Kisurra is captured at last thanks to the
templar knights (more commonly called Crusaders).
HitKisurra.JPG

670- Research on Invention is completed. Scientists now focus on discovering Theology.
Sumeria is putting up a good fight. They've managed to cut off our only supply of Furs.
They're focusing their attacks on Hubishna, trying to cut a path through our lands back to
Kisurra. We're just barely holding them off.

690- Sumerian troops make a massive attack on Hubishna, but the Crusaders are able to hold them off!
Then Ancient Cavalry troops attack Lagash and win! Hopefully we can hold the city this time.

700- The war is going great. Many Sumerian Swordmen, Medieval Infantries, and Archers have
been killed with minimal losses of our own. Now we are even withing striking distance of
the capital city of Ur. It looks like we may win this war, but are there reinforcements
waiting just beyond the fog of war?

710- Sumerian Knights make a desperate attack at Lagash and force us into treaty negotiations
after killing many of our Ancient Cavalry. We make them pay us for the treaty, however.

The Hittite Republic in 710 AD, at the end of the second Sumerian War:
Hit710AD.JPG

Notes: Many boring building turns. I started the Sumeria War once I felt I had enough
Ancient Cavs. However, the cavs are really starting to suck. My opponents have Knights
by now, which are quite superior to my Ancient Cavalry. Just ONE Knight at Lagash took out
several fully healthy Anc Cavs with ease. From now on, I'm going to depend more on my own
Knights, and Crusaders. In the next war I'll probably just bring along the few Elite cavs
for leader-fishing. When I get some new troops, I'll go after England.
One thing I forgot to mention was that I found a new island southwest of Sumeria. It's fairly
large, but unfortunately it's all ready full of English cities. Ooh, those tricky Seafaring civs.
I had good hopes about reaching the new continent to the northwest, but the seaspan is
just one tile too wide. My galleys sank just one tile away from making contact.
I'll keep trying, though.

720AD- The city of Alaca Huyuk is founded on a newly-discovered island to the Southwest.
Somehow, the evil English have already settled most of the island.
HitAlacaHuyuk.JPG

790- The scientists discover Education. Now we can build Universities to help them
research even better. Now they focus on learning Astronomy to chart the stars. This
will help out in sea travel somehow.

810- A fleet of our best ships manages to cross the dangerous seas to the new continent!
A new nation is found on the new continent, too. It is a strange clan called the Mongols.
They are a backward nation compared to the nations on our own continent.

820- Another new nation on the other continent is found. These people are called Babylonians,
and like the Mongols they are a backwards people.
The Senate now believes it would be a good time for a war against England. Our forces are ready
and willing. With any luck, we may be able to subjugate all of England. So, an official
declaration of war is delivered to London.

830- English forces approach our poorly defended town of Alaca Huyuk, so the town is
abandoned to prevent it from falling into their hands.
In return, however, our armies capture the English city of Coventry, a move that severs
the Eastern and Western parts of England.

840- Another nation is found on the new continent. These people call themselves Egyptians.
Yet again, these people are also technologically backward.

870- Our armies attack the English capital of London and defeat much of the garrison!
However, the city is absolutely overflowing with Pikemen, and eventually force us back
with numbers alone. Will we still be able to capture the city?

880- In a desperate offensive, our troops manage to capture London! Today is a great day for victory.
HitLondon.JPG

890- The scientists discover Astronomy, and now focus on learning Navigation so that
we can safely cross the oceans.
Another backward nation called India is met on the new continent.

900- Some guy named Leonardo built a great Workshop in Hattusas. He says he'll
help make it cheaper for us to upgrade our troops. Hurrah!
HitLeo.JPG

930- With a few losses, we are able to capture the city of York! Now all of
Eastern England belongs to us. However, the Western part is still powerful
since it controls an Iron resource and has many Pikemen, Swordmen, and Knights.
And even then, England still controls an entire other island.
Will we still be able to defeat the English?

Notes: Finally, I got lucky and a suicide galley got through to the new continent.
I'm rather disappointed that all of the civs on it are still in the ancient age, though.
It seems to have been a wasted trip.
Leaving the new city of Alaca Huyuk undefended was stupid. I meant to rush a
Spearman but forgot to. The war against England is going surprisingly well.
I'm taking very few losses so far. I try to use the Knights as much as possible since they
can retreat, though I often need to depend on Crusaders to bust through those tough Pikes.
I debated whether to switch my production of Leo's to Copernicus' after getting Astronomy.
However, I've been the tech leader for a while, so I don't really need the Observatory.
The money I'll save on upgrades may prove better in the long run. I still might get to
build Cop's anyway, though Sumeria is getting pretty close to Astronomy.
Now, I wonder what victory I should go for? I could possibly switch over entirely to military
and go for Domination or Conquest. If I can knock out England and Sumer quickly, all that'll
be left to conquer would be a technologically inferior continent. Or maybe I should just
conquer my own continent and then try for a Cultural or Dimplomatic victory.
.....nah, that'll be too boring. Besides, I don't think I've won by Conquest on
Monarch before, so Conquest it is! With any luck, I can get to Cavalry before the other
continent even has Muskets (though I doubt it).

Yes, soon will come the reign of Mursilis the Merciless! Wah ha ha! (evil laugh)

I like the story, dude, keep it up. I wish more people wrote in thi style, the involved, dramatized stories really bore me. Keep up the good work

970AD- The scientists learn Navigation. Now all of the world's oceans should be safe to us.
The scientists now try to develop Gunpowder so we can make better weapons.
At the same time, the city of Nottingham is captured, along with England's only source of Iron!

1000- The new millenium begins with us still at war with England. The war goes well, but
our troops advance much slower now since our forces have been spread out to defend our gains.
The English launch a fierce counterattack at Nottingham, and I feared that the city would
be lost. However, a great leader named Muwatallis rose up among the soldiers and led
them to victory! He will form a great Army in Nottingham to help crush the rest of England.

1020- Muwatallis' Army captures the English city of Canterbury! This city seems to have been
their last major stronghold. Muwatallis sends word that he expects the remaining
cities will fall with little trouble. I pray that his prediction is correct.

1040- The scientists discover Gunpowder, and now we can build weapons called Muskets.
They begin researching Banking so that we can make more efficient use of our shiny coins.

1050- The city of Oxford is captured. Now the English have only two cities left of this continent.

1090- The city of Warwick is captured! At the same time, Muwatallis attacks the last English
city on the continent, Newcastle, and captures it as well! Now the English only have cities
remaining on that island to the Southwest. However, our forces are tired and spread thin after
the war, and we don't even have enough ships to launch an invasion of the island. So, an
emissary is sent to the island, offering a peace treaty. They agree to the treaty, in which
they hand over to us the city of Leeds which they built where Alaca Huyuk once stood. The city
is renaimed to New Alaca Huyuk in memory of the original town.

The Hittite Republic in 1090AD, after the English War:

Notes: The war went pretty much as planned. I went after England's resources first, limiting
them to using Longbows and Spears by the end of the war. They used several Knights at the
beginning, which gave me some trouble. Crusaders are pretty good at taking down Knights, though.
Having Muwatallis appear at Nottingham was a great stroke of luck. I filled his Army with Knights
which single-handedly captured both Canterbury and Newcastle. I think Muwatallis will be a great
help in the coming war against Sumeria.
I had hoped to get most of the island cities from England in the peace treaty, but they would only
give up one of them, so I went with Leeds since it would make up for the loss of Alaca Huyuk. Now
I have a foothold so I can destroy the island later.
I doubt I'll be ready for a war with Sumeria before they can manage to get Gundpowder. They've been
following me along the tech tree so far, so they can't be far from having it. I just pray that they
don't have any Saltpeter. I doubt I can win against Sumeria if they get Musketmen.
The new continent is starting to catch up, unfortunately. I think contacting me has made their
techs a little bit cheaper. They've all reached the Middle Ages by now. Still, I hope I can
destroy Sumeria quickly, and then tear through the new continent with Cavalry. Cavs vs Muskets is
still very much in my favor.

You've already won this game. You should start again on a higher skill level for more of a challenge. Is this Conquests? Unmodded? I got conquests but never bothered to reinstall civ3 yet to try it out yet.

Why do you hate playing as the Hitlerites or Hitmytits whatever they are called?
