I'm relatively new here (as you may have noticed from my post count) and decided I'd try my hand at a story/roleplay to introduce myself. This may or may not go anywhere,it really depends on interest, and whether or not I get bored with the game. I'm using the huge earth map from YNAEMP (as the Iroquois) and playing on Chieftan (I want to be able to focus on Roleplay as opposed to Strategy without falling miles behind) and Epic speed. Just in case you don't believe me,here's a picture of my settings. :p

Just before I begin,I'd like to recommend this story as it's what inspired me to do this.
Anyway,I'm done rambling. Storytime!

Part One - Building a Civilization

For years the tribes of North America lived a nomadic lifestyle, navigating the dense forests and braving the bitter chill of the tundra. There was little interaction between tribes, who were often territorial and hostile towards outsiders,so it came as a surprise when many of the tribes united under the single banner of the Iroquois Confederacy. A council of Elders was selected from the finest of each tribe. The elders were to make the decisions that would dictate the fate of their new nation, the first of which was to make a permanent settlement. The plot of land eventually chosen was exposed to the cold winds of the tundra to the north, but on fertile, resourceful land, and bordered a great lake to the south. It was to be named Onondaga, after one of the confederacy's many tribes.

The sight of Deer to the east motivated the Confederacy's small band of hunters to explore further. They came across an area heavily forested, with a great river running through it,as well as Foxes and grazing Cattle,Cotton and Fish in the nearby waters. They noticed human tracks to the south, suggesting that other tribes may be in the area. Despite this, the elders decided that the area would be ideal for another settlement,if necessary.

I think that'll be it for part one,I don't know if it's too long or too short, but I have a few more screenshots saved if anyone would like the second part. I'd really appreciate any constructive criticism,as this is my first real attempt at writing anything and I'd like to improve. Ideas would be good too.
Thanks for reading!

Part Two - Discovery

After much discussion,it was decided that the tracks to the South should be investigated. The hunting party,as well as some of the elders, were sent. A couple of days later, they returned with stories of the white-skinned 'American' people led by a man calling himself George Washington. Some attempts at communication were made, and it was established that the two were not to be enemies - at least not for now - as neither side was particularly hostile, nor particularly welcoming. The Americans were, however, treated with much suspicion.

This was only the first of the Hunter's discoveries, however. Across the lake to the west, they spotted more foreigners. Their skin was darker than that of the Americans, and they were clad in exotic skins, and wielded wooden blades studded with dark stones which reflected in the sunlight, allowing them to be easily seen. They called out to the men who revealed themselves to be from the 'Aztec' kingdom to the south. The Elders decided it would be beneficial to establish proper diplomatic relations, so further exploration to the south was to begin.

Part 3 should be up today, thanks for reading!

Good story so far. I'll be following.

:goodjob:

I might not be able to get part 3 posted today,as I don't really have time to play and I don't have enough interesting screenshots yet. I do intend for it to be a little longer, though, and it should definitely be up by tomorrow if I'm not struck by any large vehicles.

Also, what do you guys think would be an ideal length for each part? As someone who's new to writing, length is kind of a weak point of mine.

Maybe at least a little longer than the first two, but however you want to really.

I managed to get time to play today,so I have a ton of screenshots I could for this one. I don't know how long I'll make it (I really should plan before I start typing the post!) but as you're about to see,it'll be much longer than the other two if I don't decide to split it into more parts.

Also,I most likely won't be able to add to this on weekends (we'll see), but expect at least an update on most weekdays.

Part Three - Broadening the Horizon

A few days into the exploration, the Elders recieved word from the Hunters, detailing mountains to the west, and a large hill that would occasionally emit steam with a great hiss. They were baffled by this but ordered the Hunters to continue their journey to the south in order to discover Aztec lands.

Meanwhile,a group of Men from the village claimed to have discovered an easy way to gather more food. The idea was that grazing animals could be enclosed in a 'pasture' where they would be able to live, eat and breed freely, but could not escape. Allowing the creatures to breed meant that the supply of meat would never run out. These men were rewarded for this invention and were designated as the 'scientists' of the settlement, tasked with creating new traps for some of the more mobile animals like Deer.
Meanwhile, the discoveries made by the Hunters to the west had enticed several young boys in the village to take up exploration like them. They told the elders of this idea and they agreed to allow it, but only if they had been trained sufficiently first.

With much going on in the Confederacy, the Council of Elders decided it was time to write their first law.
After much debate, they decided on a code of Liberty, granting personal freedoms to each citizen of the nation.

I think I'll end this part here, but if I have time to get on again,I do have enough screenshots for another one today. Thanks for reading!

Good update. Watch out for Monty!

Maybe he'll see America and go after them instead. :D

Part Four

Word of even more strange discoveries to the Southwest reached the Settlement. Apparently the Hunters had discovered 'a grand mountain, with a flat top and steep sides'. Tales and stories of this quickly spread, and the whole village was made happy.

However, there were also more sinister tales told of the journey. They described 'barbarian' tribes, who would ambush the Hunters, hiding within the walls of their encampments. It was said they were roughly equal to the Hunters in combat, but their reliance on brute strength alone was their one weakness.

Meanwhile, the Council of Elders gathered to write their second law.
It was to be a law of Citizenship, giving each individual responsibilities as well as rights. One of these responsibilities was to work the land for food,a technique that had not yet been attempted.

The Elders also decided that the young boys of the village had finally completed their training, and as such they were given permission to begin their work exploring the lands around the Confederacy. Within a day, they had already sighted what appeared to be the ruins of an ancient settlement. This pleased the Elders, who ordered them to search for any survivors or artefacts inside.

That's it for Part Four (Which I haven't quite though of a name for yet.)
I'm slightly worried about Monty's score, but only time will tell what happens with him. As always, thanks for reading!

Good update. ;)

This one's going to be short,as I haven't had much time to play lately, and I probably won't this weekend either. Sorry!

Part Five - Chosen People

A couple of days after the start of their journey, the young men returned to the village, speaking of visions they saw in the ruins. Detailing 'a beautiful, unearthly woman who could change her form to that of an animal' calling herself The Goddess of The Hunt. Many of the village's people began to worship her, although others were skeptical.
Most were convinced, however, and so the settlement worked hard and seemed to grow ever stronger.
