A music production question

i amend the question: would you rather have a turd or a golden turd, if it meant using your own gold to make it golden.

well if they dont spend all that money, no one here is talking about it. Punk and Lo-Fi are beyond the scope because, as you claim, they dont spend a lot of money.

We are talking about people that spend money to try and improve something that cant be improved with money. Good production equipment doesnt make for good songs.

ahh, no i would not cover a turd in gold...maybe copper but not gold.

and i know, but there arent many bands in the indie and punk circles out there who spend a ton on production. and god only knows there are a ton of bad musicians in both scenes, but i havent seen many try to mask that, in fact many exploit it.

I use Ableton Live. I used to use Cubase and Reason, but I'm a big Live convert right now.

Audacity is good for audio editing, but I wouldn't use it to produce music.

If you have a bit of money, I suggest you try Cubase, the most basic level, but if you're really strapped for cash, I suggest Reaper as a good freebie.
