A new challenge!

I know that, for the most part, you weren't totaly serious. However, your use of "too" suggests a hint of truth. And that is what Iwas answering.

30. Nxg5 Rf8
31. Re1 Kd5
32. Nxh7 Rf2
33. Rg1 e5
34. h4 e4
35. g4 e3

Well...
I knew my knight move was a mistake. DAMN!!!
I´m sorry but I don´t see any possibility to defend now, unless you make a mistake, which is not very likely. But there is some hope left, I´ll try, at least a few more moves!
But again, DAMN!
:(

30. Nxg5 Rf8
31. Re1 Kd5
32. Nxh7 Rf2
33. Rg1 e5
34. h4 e4
35. g4 e3
36. Nf6+

I think the problem was that my pieces, including my King, were active and coordinated, and my Pawn was mobile, while your pieces were passive and uncoordinated.

I think in the middle game you were better, but by trading Queens you allowed me to catch-up in development.

30. Nxg5 Rf8
31. Re1 Kd5
32. Nxh7 Rf2
33. Rg1 e5
34. h4 e4
35. g4 e3
36. Nf6+ Rxf6

Now he tells me! :crazyeye:
You saw this coming and didn´t say a word. :p

30. Nxg5 Rf8
31. Re1 Kd5
32. Nxh7 Rf2
33. Rg1 e5
34. h4 e4
35. g4 e3
36. Nf6+ Rxf6
37. g5

I have found that helping my opponents can be detritmental to my score. :D
Besides, you didn't ask. :p

30. Nxg5 Rf8
31. Re1 Kd5
32. Nxh7 Rf2
33. Rg1 e5
34. h4 e4
35. g4 e3
36. Nf6+ Rxf6
37. g5 Rf2

Yeah, especially if they are so much weaker than you!
Should I give up now?

30. Nxg5 Rf8
31. Re1 Kd5
32. Nxh7 Rf2
33. Rg1 e5
34. h4 e4
35. g4 e3
36. Nf6+ Rxf6
37. g5 Rf2
38. g6

Since you can't stop me from queening, and even with best play, I think it is something like a mate-in-8, I believe your resignation wouldn't be out of order.
:king:

30. Nxg5 Rf8
31. Re1 Kd5
32. Nxh7 Rf2
33. Rg1 e5
34. h4 e4
35. g4 e3
36. Nf6+ Rxf6
37. g5 Rf2
38. g6 e2

Yeah, unfortunately you didn´t make a mistake in those last 2 moves. Saw it coming. :(

39. White resigns

I now see 2 moves that could have changed the outcome, but I didn´t think you would go for an all out race to queen.
DAMN!
Even figures but still losing due to not enough foresight. DAMN!
Sorry.

So if you have any tips, hints or other things to help me with my playing style, I´d be grateful to hear them. I am more or less a newbie after all. This was just my 4th game I´ve played in over 5 years, and back then I had played not more than a total of maybe 50 games or so.
So any help and constructive criticism is really welcome.
Thanks, we´ll see us in the tournament!
:D

For so little experience, you play suprisingly well. I've play probably hundreds of slow games and thousands of blitz games, and for a while I thought I would have to strugle to insure a draw. I'm not sure if you realized how powerful a Rook on the 7th can be and how dangerous a mobile passed Pawn is.

The two of the best ways to improve are to play stronger opponents and to review master games. Regarding books, I'm very fond of Silman's "Reassess Your Chess." I'm not sure of anything specific for you, but I'll let you know if I think of anything.

I'm in the process of assembling a list of chess sites for myself which I may end up posting.

See you in the tourney: Torney Rd1: mep vs Lucky (CFCT)

Move 32. Now my knight was to far away to be of help.
Move 34. I should have concentrated on one pawn instead of trying to keep both. The g pawn could have made to queen before your e pawn. ;)

Oh, I did realize, only 2 or 3 moves too late. DAMN again!
Well, doesn´t help hitting yourself, does it?!
:D

I think 34. Ng5 is what you should have played.

As far as 34. g4 goes, 34...e4, 35. g5 e3, 36. g3 e2, 37. Rc1 (37. g2 Rf1+, 38. Rxf1 efQ#) Rf1, 38. b3 Rxc1+, 39. Kxc1 e1Q+
