A New Divine Intervention Game?

I was wondering if you'd be up for an Tali to step in? The challenge of encouraging civilizations to act irresponsibly seems difficult to pass up.

Don't see how anyone could mind, the slots still open and you don't even have a rival in someone being Kilmorph yet. Never paid much attention to Tali before, would being a God of Irresponaibility mean being irresponsible by a civilizations own sense of responsibility or a genric all purpose thing?

aside - another neutral god :p evil gods still outweigh the good so far.

No problem! Just try not to go all Perpentach crazy on me. ;) He is irresponsible, not zany. :ar15: :crazyeye:

Not at all. I just see Tali favoring civilizations that put things like art and culture ahead of defense and production, and nudging civilizations to explore ruins and lairs and the like. More to the point, the Grigori hew pretty closely to Tali's outlook anyway, and if Gerran is also willing to be a pious man, well, then he's one better than Cassiel.

Are we playing with the understanding that Tali male or female (in personality, obviously Tali can take whatever form s/he feels is right for the moment)? I only ask because it would affect how in-character posts would be conveyed.

Hmm... If you step in as Tali, I might consider changing to Kilmorph. I don't forsee being able to do much, because the grigori are neither elves nor FoL so Cernunnos has very few bonuses to give them... and as they will be likely chopping forests, which means I wouldn't be fit to give them many bonuses anyway.

Or I could switch to one of the good gods, probably Natnosuelta or Lugus.

To my knowledge, Tali is male. All of the gods in FFH have specific genders. Although I suppose they could take the form of a different gender if they wanted to.

Also, Onion, that is too bad, I was looking forward to responding to your post. Remember that I can follow any religion I want. If I declare myself to be following FoL, and stick to whatever tenants you deem appropriate, feel to reward me with a temple, FoL specific units, or whatever. Same goes for the other gods and their religions. Just because I cannot technically adopt a religion doesn't mean I won't follow one.

Actually, an added bonus to playing the Grigori I didn't even think about is no "Found the Order!" quests, which I am enjoying. I have to be judged on my actions.

But Tali and Oghma, I've always imagined as Female, and fit better IMHO as female.

Well, the Celtic gods they're (presumably) based on are both male. Oghma was Tuatha's champion who smote his opponents with a shillelagh and, in Irish tradition, a great poet and advocate of wisdom. Taliesin was, depending on which you choose (both of them Welsh), the god of poets or the god of fertility and barley.

I say presumably because Leucetious was the Gaullic god of lightning (and later was co-opted as an angel in the Catholic hierarchy, not unlike many other Celtic deities), so that's a direct translation, as opposed to an assumed side-step in Tali's case. Given that all of the other gods and angels are drawn from Celtic backgrounds, I see no fault in making that small logic jump.

And thus I have convinced myself to play Tali as male. So...

I used to assume that Tali and Oghma (which I used to read as Oghama) were female, but Kael has stated definitively that they are male.

The only female goddesses are Sirona, Nantosuelta, Kilmorph, Bhall, and Ceridwen; just 5 females compared to 16 males. Among archangels the ratio is more even, but not by much. I think the female archangels Gyra (Archangel of Death) and Condatis (Archangel of Water) have a different gender than their creators. (Condatis would have been male had Kael stayed closer to Celtic mythology. There Condatis was the god of healing and of the confluence of rivers, who in the Roman era was equated to Mars.)

I'd be interested in joining as Mammon, God of Greed, but I need to be brought up to speed.

Which mod/version are you using?

I'm also not too great at world-builder... which wouldn't be that necessary, mind you, but making terrain is beyond me at this point.

If someone (Thomas?) allows me to piggy back off of them, then I could do my initial ideas.

Sure... I'd be willing.

Alright. Actually made my first post in the thread, which was a bit different from what I send you. Look at that, if you would.

Alright. I'll play.

Mammon's my name, corruption my game. I'll tempt you, reward you, do everything in my power to help you... as long as I get it all back in the end. And I do mean all.

I may not offer you a choice to sell your family for money, but that's because I see it as a perfectly good waste of unpaid labor/sex.

plus interest, of course.

As I have said in the game thread, I would like to be Lugus, Angel of Light.
