Someone on Reddit's r/civ recommended this mod. I'd been playing Civ5 but found it wildly unsatisfactory for a variety of reasons, so I dusted off Civ4. I played a LOT of Rhye's And Fall Of Civilization in the past, but after a few hundred hours it becomes dull due to how deterministic the game is.
I absolutely love this mod. In my current game, I'm playing on the Huge Europe map as Hannibal, on Epic Speed, Emperor difficulty. Now, I see a lot of complaining about poor balance or lack of difficulty here on the forums. Maybe I'm just bad at the game, but I'm finding my current game to be the perfect difficulty. There were times when I had too much money, and then times that wiped my money supply out completely. The AI expanded aggressively and covered the map very quickly. Some civs are destroying their neighbors and increasing in power alongside me. I'm in the early Renascence now (694/2895 turns, 23.94% of the way through), in a solid second place with an INCREDIBLY powerful Russia to contend with across the map. I can't wait to see what the rest of the game has to offer!
So I just wanted to give everyone on the mod team a huge shout out. You've made my day, my weekend, and many weekends to come. Thanks for all of your hard work. Its great the way it is, and I can only imagine it will get even better with the multi-map feature, which I'm really looking forward to!
