/em starts kicking!

I don't get the fascination with nukes - but whatever brings you fun in the game. They seem like a low strategy way to fight and AIs really don't have emotions so they don't care if you nuke them. If you really hate them then TAKE their cities and/or remove them from the game entirely instead of making a few cities glow for a few turns!

The only adjustment I think should be made for nukes is that every time you fire one off you get a huge diplo penalty with all other civs - because even stupid AIs should have enough self preservation to eventually go to war to prevent some psycho from melting the planet!

I've played well over 20 games to completion now and often run the tech tree to completion but I've still yet to build or see any AI build the manhattan project or a single nuke. The only time I've messed with them was in the world builder after I'd won a game just to see graphics. So, I'm not even sure how you could possibly build 96 ICBMs without the game already being way over...or I just haven't played that map type yet!

It isnt hard, if you do an early expansion coupled with that leading to you gaining a large empire early on you then result in a huge economy...

In my latest game I developed the manhattan project and from there 96 ICBMs by 1890... my opponents at that time had only just begun getting infantry and flight was still years away...

the result was one hell of an unfair first strike :)

The only time the AI launched a Nuke at me was in Civ I. I was happily building the spaceship and I recall that one of the AI's had built the Manhatten project. I hit the end turn button....only to see a few seconds later a missle marching its way across my screen to one of MY cities . Berlin evaporated to half its population and all the units dead or damaged.

I think i shut the power off and went to bed right after that.

ah those were the days..........

Yes, I remember a similar game in Civ3. I was America and just busily going about my business of making buildings. I had a mutual protection pack with my neighbors to the north the Iroquios. The next think I know...ZAP! What was this I asked? Surely this was not my SDI protecting me from my allies. Then next... BOOM. It seems my mutual protection friends decided to obliterate my mutual rear from the map. Talk about a friend!

I sometimes feel that Firaxes has been a bit cheap with the nice mass destruction weapons and how the AI handles them.

They cant get the AI to act normally under threath of weapons of mass destruction, so they juz add only 1 wich is fkcing underpwrd!#$1 pardon my 1337.

I woulda loved to see a more wider arrey of weapons of mass destruction and sort of give the AI and force the player to feel a MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction for those who dont know what MAD means)

The AI has never challenged me with nukes and barely build anything to stop them. So i jzu build up, nuke the **** out of them and thats it. They get pissed but i dont care coz they dont nuke back anyway.
