I don't know if others have complained about this before, but when a thread that is considered off-topic gets moved to new forum, you still see the thread with the word "Moved" in the old forum and thus you are advertising your thread in two forums rather than one. If someone is really desperate to get a message out then he/she could just delibrately put an off-topic thread in the wrong forum and expect to get it moved to another.

While I don't think this is a big problem, I still think it ought to be changed.

Well usually the only people who do that are newbies who literaly dont know what they are doing but I think the mods here are smart enough to know that some one with a 1000+ PC know what they are doing if they try to pull a stunt like that. Furthermore, if a thread gets double exposure, so what? Thats what it was made to do, be read. :)

The moderator can also delete that thread in their forum. Moving a thread is just part of it. :) The one in the previous forum is just the link to the new thread.

I don't consider it a problem. Like spy said, people who do that are usually newbies. If a veteran member posted a thread in a wrong forum, then he/she will likely to get into trouble. Our expectations for non-newbies are different. :)

Regardless, we are given the option whether to leave that 'advertisement' or not. It is generally left so that the original poster will be able to find it when they return.;)

Yeah, especially newbies. ;)

The thread will probably disappear quickly anyway... Especially if it was originally in OT.

I leave the redirect as a courtesy to the thread starter, threads can be moved without the redirect if we chose to. ;)
