A Release Date Thread for Aussies

G'day,

For any Australians out there, what date have you been given for the imminent release of Civ4?

I was in EB last Thursday night and popped the question. They checked their computers (which have a history of being VERY wrong) and they told me November the 3rd (i.e. tomorrow week). Has any other Aussie been given a different release date?

Just for the record, I am based in Sydney if you couldnt see my location to the left...

Games Warehouse says the 3rd too, and some other online store I can't remember said the same. I think you can assume that's the release date (unless it gets stuck at customs).

Or it gets held-up at the OFLC for simulating violence and subsequently banned from sale

Seriously, I just dont understand why they didnt do a world-wide release on the same day. They did it with Half Life 2. Civ is as big so why the hell not? Ahh, the Internet bringing us all closer.

Now that's interesting. Why is NZ getting is before AUS? We are technically the same distance from anywhere else in the world. I might call EB again tomorrow and confirm it is definitely the 3rd. Thanks for the info

what happened to the good ole days when you could just walk into a store, purchase a game and leave - every1 seems to be pre-ordering online these days...

I preordered mine at a local EB in Brisbane about a week and a half ago, and they told me it was due on the 3rd then. The DVD Crave online store also has the 3rd as the release date.

The funny thing is though, after thinking about this for a moment, when I was in the store, they had the Civ4 "coming soon" boxes on the shelf. It said on the box "Coming in October 2005" ...

I'll check it tomorrow with EB and see what they say. Bet $10 they have changed their release date. If so, Gameswarehouse here I come.

I would assume that it will be a national release, not state by state but I could be wrong. Nothing surprises me anymore

I bet they changed in since then. I can remember asking for Serious Sam 2. I was told at the end of September. Go into EB at the end of september and it is not on shelf. Told that it is delayed (which was true) but wont be out until November. Go into EB last Thursday and it is there on the shelf (one copy!). See, EB have no idea. For all I know, I'll call tomorrow, they'll say Civ4 not out until Nov 3 and there will be 50 copies on the shelf right next to the person I speak to.

LOL!!!! We occasionally see Helen Clark on TV and well, that is not a pretty thought. Maybe she should send some to Rockstar while she's at in.

Asked a few EB stores around and they told me it's out on the 4thNov. Initially, like NZ was planned for the 28thOct but.... there's some delay. Anyhow, i've got mine shipped from EBgames.com and it's on the way!

I dont believe so. I was told "released on the 3rd of November", which to me means that it will be on the shelf on that day. Thursday being late night shopping, I'll probably go to EB and they will have sold out.

I'll call EB today and see what they say regarding release dates. Post back here when I find out.
