I dont know if you read an earlier reference I made to Serious Sam 2 and EB, but before the day I bought it, there wasn't a "pre-release" or "coming-soon" box to be seen for it and there was no accouncement or anything like that. It was just "there" when I walked into the shop last Thursday (last copy I might add).

So you'll probably find that next Thursday, Civ4 will be there, if not before or after.

Does anyone know if all Australian versions are the normal US versions? No special packaging for pre-orders or anything?

At least the weeks delay to us Civers in Aus might give them a chance to put out a patch that resolves some of the issues some of the poor buggers here are having. A small consilation I know!

Well that kinda sucks. They released a "Collector's Edition" of Civ3 when it was released. Why not for 4? Obviously the change of publisher has something to do with it.

I'd rather the spiral bound manual than any other. It is nice to be able to lay the thing flat whilst playing. Well I guess beggers (meaning me) cant be choosers. At least it is still being released here.

boxes are in EB ringwood with the lovely 'October' heading.
I'm buying from one of the three Eastland, Ringwood (vic) pc shops, but with pricematch to City Software's (www.csw.com.au) $70 price.

Well I've tried calling EB 5 times this morning and now just again (1:30pm here in Sydney) and each time I've tried calling the closest EB to me, it is engaged. Typical... As soon as I can contact them, I'll try and get a update on the release date. Hopefully it will be the same for the rest of Oz too.

Edit: Just in regards to Quark35's post about a patch, it seems like a possibility. Nothing yet from Firaxis but by what people are saying about the Civilopedia, it is supposedly shyte with cross-links and the reference links do not go where they should. Also, supposedly they used a lot of "icons" instead of words to denote things (probably resources). Even though I think we, who haven't got the game yet, should take this with a grain of salt, it still may mean a patch of some kind in the foreseeable future.

Well finally got through to EB and they told me that Civ4 will be ON-SHELF on November 3rd .. He did advise to call early next week to confirm but that seems to be the date.

I double checked with EB this morning as well, we're getting the DVD version as well still having it down for release on the 3rd.

Yeh apparently it was 28th October but obviously it got delayed to the European release date. Anywho just a week to go!!!
