Well you could always 'customise' your units so that they only show 'multi-figure' units during combat.

....or Redking has come up with another alternative to help reduce 'map clutter'.
This is to 'customise' the units so they show 'encampments' instead of the default.flc or fortify.flc.....

Hmm... I'm not so familiar with unit-making. I'll just wait for the finished "product". It sounds good, but I'm not sure if it's really workable. But definitely worth to find out!!!
