Hopefully, something like this can be achieved. I'm sure it can be.

That's pretty nice looking...but if you zoom out to a 'normal' zoom level to manage your empire (say at least 4 or 5 cities on the screen at one time) I wonder if it would become too small to make out any detail?

I found the shot snoopy based it on. :) It's a very zoomed-in view:

And yet you would never have thought so. Eyes can be very deceiving. :crazyeye:

In a vector world, what is a "normal" zoom level? ;)

That's very nice. I wish the actual screenshots were that easy on the eyes.

I don't know. I think that's a little TOO small. It's most certainly better than the source screenshot, however, and I'm eager to see what you come up with for the terrain in Civ4, Snoopy. Yours are still my favorite terrain graphics in Civ3 (especially the marshes - outstanding work there).

:goodjob: Snoopy, that's the first pleasant screenie of Civ4

makes me wonder how come they can't do it, most likely they are very busy tweaking the AI ;)

What part of this: "Don't underestimate vectorised graphics and this "In a vector world, what is a "normal" zoom level?" did you not understand?

Ouch, that's a bit harsh. All I meant is that in my own personal opinion, you scaled the buildings and trees a little bit too much in relation to the rest of the terrain. I fully realize and understand the power of vectorized graphics - I much prefer Fireworks to Photoshop in part because of vector graphics, for instance. I *personally* would prefer something slightly larger in proportion to the terrain, but not nearly so large as the original screenshot.

It wasn't meant as a criticism, just an observation.

Looks like, once again, I will be coming to Snoopy for all of my graphics needs ;)! Looks very nice, Snoopy :)!

Ok, sorry, you were right, I sounded harsh. What I was trying to point out was, this screenshot, is a 'zoomed out' shot. And since this game is 3D, you would just simply zoom it in to a more liked level.

But the main purpose of this is that the buildings are now scaled with the terrain.

However, whether this is all possible or not remains to be seen.

Ahh, my bad then. I made an assumption based off the original source screenshot. As I said before, I'm very eager to see what you come up with in regards to terrain and cityscape graphics :)

Hmmmm, I wonder if the game will even run with all those things on the map. ;)

If that's a mod thing, cool. Hopefully units will be scaled too?

Need more space man! I heard cause of 3D-ness the map will be smaller. :(

very pretty, but how would you manage an empire if that were the normal zoom level? you would also have to scale units and everything to match, but you would make us spend quite some time scrolling around. no?

Easy to just zoom out then speed focus on whatever part you wanted to go. ;)

Great job Snoopy... Vectors are wonderful...

But remember that I want to see what I've got... WYSIWYG

When I'm looking at my empire to prioritize my building and planning... I aint gonna see squat but my very biggest wonders at this size. And don't even try to tell me I'm gonna zoom in to check each city this way... Cause that's what we all did in Civ3 via the menu windows!
