To my fellow governors, my province needs a settler to fill the gap between Giza and Alexandria. However, my province won't be able to produce it, due to the fact that it would be an Egyptian-ethnic settler. I request your help to find one city to produce it.

Since Egypt is no more an Egyptian settler will have no adverse effects as far as I understand. :)

I believe Peri is correct..but we may still want to produce the settler elsewhere for speed and to not hinder Old Egypt's rebuilding efforts.

If needed I can build a settler in Go Home Xerxes, after it's marketplace finishes (1 turn). It'll take 8 turns.

Personally I think the Capitoline city of Nur Gisnod is better suited; it has just finished building and a settler would only take 2 turns. But if you can't find an appropriate city I'll build the settler in Go Home Xerxes.

As an alternative Thebes could change from library to settler and take a loss of shields. In this way the new city will be built in 3 turns.

There is no great urgency for Thebes to expand its cultural borders but there is a marked urgency to found that city. :)

I agree with peri. I think we should change to a settler in thebes..

Well, it might be so, but be aware that the people of Thebes lacks culture, and that the Aztecs could settle the desert placed between it and Hieraconpolis (desert=might be oil in there).

Then I will put cavalry there so they can't.

and how often do they settle in desertanyways??

This all strikes me as "we can (hopefully), so we do"; not "what is the best way to accomplish the goal?".

Yes, Thebes can produce a settler, but it would hurt it's production, culture etc. in such a way that would not damage Nur Gisnod. Thebes needs other things in it's buildqueue; Nur Gisnod has a perfect opportunity and is able to squeeze in a settler.

I too would like to see the continued cultural expansion of Thebes. We have rails now, so we can send a Settler from wherever we want. And Nur Gisnod sounds ideal. Perhaps someone should consult General Falcon?

And actually, Sir John, that open land is not all desert. ;) There are two Flood Plain tiles located there as well. :D

Forget that. Memphis and River Crossing will do the work, as soon as it will be polled. However. we should also use this thread as placement discussion.

The "c1" alpha and bêta placement are those for the city that I asked a settler for.

The "c2" alpha, bêta and gamma placement are for a culture fill-in city, to claim as much desert as possible, just in case that there is petroleum in there.

I'm temped to add one to the build queue anyway, to try to claim that land between our Egyptian holdings and the American Egyptian holdings.

I brought that idea up for discussion and it seemed to generate 0 interest.
