What kind of unit is this?

This guy expanded very early on, but kept a really high science output. Is there something wrong here?

When hovering over a tile doesn't the little pop-up show ALL units sitting on that tile? The pop-up only shows a single unit while the selected units are in fact TWO riflemen.

I'm pretty sure you can hover over a tile and get the pop-up while at the same time having different units selected. That seems to be the case here.....

thats right - you dont see the cursor he is pointing on his road-building renamed worker unit elsewhere. So here lies the reason for his decision to cut-off the screenie. ;)

The decision to cut it off is that i'm working in 3180x1200. There are two riflemen selected, but i think i was hovering above that worker. Can you rename heroes as well?

Even if that's the case, I don't think there's anything stopping him from naming his rifleman 'a strange fast worker.'

Except you cannot rename the "type" of unit and in the screenshot it clearly shows the unit in question being a "worker" type. Also, without morale a rifle cannot have 2 movement points which this unit does (without promotions, or XP for that matter).

Dammit, thats not the issue here. I had two of my riflemen selected and i was hovering above this worker.

He had an army led by "inquisitor Roth" and a hero in his capital called hammuru kasai or somesuch, and he kept babling something about hammuru inspiration and stuff. It was like the twilight zone.

I gather that you can rename your units, heroes included?

All units you can rename, yes.

That includes Great People, Milatery units, Workers (as demonstrated in the screeny), ships, and Work-boats.

You don't even need a Great General (Warlords / BtS only), but Great Generals, when attached, DO automatically change the name.

When in the OP you ask "what kind of unit is this?" what unit are you talking about? And what is it the screenshot is supposed to be showing us about this unit?

In the passage quoted above, by "he" do you mean the worker you were hovering over? What does it mean to say "he had a hero in his capital?" In what sense does any unit have a hero in any city in CivIVBTS?

When you say he was babbling, what does this mean exactly? Do you mean the stuff he would say when you selected him? (And were we supposed to know about this from your OP somehow?)

the threads title says which unit he talks about.

with "he" he probably means someone in a multiplayer game?

Guys, i'm sorry, i didn't mean to bring upon you such confusion.

Yes, by 'he' i mean the player who, presumably comanded the unit from the screenshot. By having a hero in his capital, i actually meant a great general, i must've called him a hero because i was thinking about the chat i had with the player while i was playing this game. He was refering to them as "heroes". And by having him, i actually meant that the unit was standing in there, along with the defending units. If i remember correctly it wasnt assigned to anything.

I did not mean that the worker (the actual unit) was babbling, because i didn't know that units can babble. I am sorry for assuming this, but i didn't even know that units can be renamed, let alone that they can babble.

What's "OP"?

OP is original poster. As for the riflemen workers, perhaps he gave them that graphic to confuse other players. If it works in MP games, it can be a good "strategy" to make the enemies not capture them. It's easy not to notice that's its actually a worker.
