Once AGAIN, I am beat to a wonder by 1 turn. It happened earlier in the game, and I switched to palace, so I could grab the next wonder when I got the technology. I switched over, still needed more research.
Damn if it doesn't happen again, and there's no point in even switching to a palace. :gripe: :aargh: :wallbash: [pissed]

Well...if you really want that wonder...use your mighty army and claim it. ;)

But yeah...it sucks when that happens. :(

How much MM are you doing? That may have something to do with it.

huh?

Well, when your pop was about to expand, say a turn or two before it increases, you could have moved things around, gotten more shields, and still got the pop in one or two turns. This could have given you the wonder, where if you had let it sit, you wouldn't have gotten it.

Loosing wonder races is exactly why I stopped using the govenor.

If you really want the wonder you'll boost the population as high as you can and maintain happiness and then micro-manage the land for the maximum number of sheilds at a zero growth rate.

Then again, you can calculate the maximum number of sheilds this will get you and then investigate the other cities building the wonder and get the number of turns left on the build. Be sure to note the mood of the population and when the next growth will be so you determine if the build rate will increase.

Then back out the number of turns it will take you to produce the difference between the number of sheilds accumulated and those needed. [(Needed - Accumulated)/spt] And round up to the next integer.

If after all that your number is bigger that the AI's make the best use of the sheilds you have.

May I suggest a really expensive worker?
