Blasphemous I am sure he didn't say effect he said tank... I think he is wrong but it did help my uncles who have a steel working factory... So it did do something at least.
Are you two trying to argue that war is good for the economy?!
Yes it creates some jobs, but it doesn't usually have a positive effect on the economy for many reasons. I'm no expert, but wars are not way up there on the top of the list of things that I think help the economy.
The same money that went into Iraq could have gone into strengthening the economy in very many ways. I'm sure you know this site which happens to list what that money could be used for. Bush seems to think the way to fix unemployment is to educate people so they can compete against the people that jobs are outsourced to. Well, he could have done alotof goodfor education with the money that went into Iraq, possibly - we have yet to see - in vain.
Its not as if the money that went to Iraq was taken out of little children's pockets. Its money taken out of thin air, that wouldn't have been taken had there not been a war.
Only if the war requires the mobilization of the citizens. A war such as Gulf War II doesn't require any increase in production of weapons or other war supplies. The rate of production was sufficient, so no job was created.
