I was dissapointed a little, because this mod is historical... for Western Europe, but not for Eastern one.

First, and main, is that Kievan Rus is only Kievan))) But Novgorod was the first capital of this state and one of the core cities. So I was surprised looking Kievan starting situation. Much more historical is starting in Novgorod and conquering indy Kiev.
Second, Kievan Rus stability map is not correct, making it too hard to build the state in its historical borders.
Third is that Kievan Rus is out of seas, but it is not correct at all - for example, elder name for Black sea was Russian sea, and using their navy, russians were trying to conquer Konstantinopol.

About city names I wrote in special thread.

Kiev spawns in 880 AD. This when the capital moved from Novgorod to Kiev. So making the capital Novgorod first will the ahistorical in that case.
There currenst spawn represents the capital movement from Novgorod to Kiev and thereby esteblashing the "real" Kievan Rus.
BTW, the AI will have some serious problems when it comes to this. It will end up with Kievan Rus without Kiev. Which is even worse than the current situation.

Kievan Rus in RFCE represents this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kievan_Rus

Also, Novgorod will be in the game. 2 Civs with the same capital will cause some serious troubles.

Could you eloborate a bit more which areas aren't historical? Which areas should be changed?

Not settling at the Black Sea is probably a problem is the settlermap. We can redo some parts of the Kievan settlermap. So the Kievan AI is more likely to settle some coastal cities. (This will not guarantee coastal cities though. But this is an AI problem)

About Novgorod, it may flip to Kievans, because it was very important part of the state and it seems not correct to conquer Novgorod. And with powerful northern area it will be no need in new civ. Just like this way: Kievans esteblish 3-4 cities in northern area -> Mongols ruin southern area, or Lithuanians will do this -> capital moves to Novgorod and civ name changes to Novgorod Rus -> history continues with chances to overcome Moscow and Lithuania. Changing UHV that way will make Kievan gameplay more challenging.

For areas I will need some time, after I will make the suggestions.

There should be at least two ports on black sea, and BTW Byzantium should settle in Crimea or have city on start.

Byzantines usually do end up settling the Crimea eventually, but lately they've been more focused on resettling Anatolia.

As for Kievan Black Sea ports, I think we should probably buff them overall, seeing how many (i.e. little) cities they actually settle.

the AI is really dumb with some civs, Kiev is one of them. The civ does absolutely nothing when in the hands of AI-it carries no threat whatsoever and is always demolished around 1300's

If your playing poland or lithuania or bulgaria, whether kiev is there or not will never make a difference because theyre so constantly weakened and their production is low.
AI civs like Kiev should really get some bonus vs barbarians or something along those lines. Or those constantly spawning horse archers prior 1150's just need to be removed, so kiev can actually grow and develop its land tiles
