Accelerated Production: is it cheating?

Thanks. Because I am beating up the Babs on one of my first successful Warlord games (yeah, I'm a wimp) on Accelerated Production. I think it's much more fun because the game doesn't take centuries to complete.
I agree, it's much more fun. The game goes a lot faster and wars are a lot bigger.
Another Cheiftain player! I'm not alone!!! :D

I use AP more often than not. Its not a cheat, just an option. No question, the game plays differently with and without it.

As far as difficulty levels, nobody should feel bad about what level they play. I bounce back and forth between Regent and Warlord, based on my mood and bloodpressure levels :-)

I respect those who master this game at higher levels, but I, like many, dont have the tiime to devote to it. Or honestly, the drive to try and figure it out at that level. I love the Civ games, 4X genre in general. For me its all about the fun I have, not how I compare with others.

The accelerated production shifts the balance of the costs versus production/commerce values in the game but does not alter the task completion and movement cycles. The AI is not programmed to recognize that AP is engaged so they basically continue to lock in on their usual production objectives.

Are you sure of this?
What i can see there is no difference, like a AP warlord AI has the same production, food and commercebonus as an ordinary Deity AI. Only difference is the bonus unit the AI gets on deity.

But on deity they get free unit support to help overcome the fact that they have so many units before their workers can build roads to pay for the units. Deity AI gets free workers and a settler to help increase their free unit support, commerce, and keep up in terrain improvements to make up for their faster growth/production.

But I think I see what you are saying. On deity (even with normal rules), the AI doesn't consider it's growth/production too much because they have 30 shields built towards a settler before they hit size 3.

A human would see that he is constantly having many citizens working non-improved tiles and would emphasize workers more. The AI doesn't necessarily do that.
