is it considered no skill to play with the accelerated production option on (in all civ3 versions: vanilla-conquests)? because i recently started playing my games with the option on all the time and now when i move back to non-accelerated production games, i am finding my behind getting owned.

but i see everyone at cfc playing without accelerated production and i think to myself uh oh, is what i am doing a no brainer?

Not everyone. I don't remember the results of the last poll, but there's a fair number that use it.

Myself included. My current game, I'm researching Refining. And I've been playing for 20 some hours. My games are long enough. I don't need to make it worse by slowing it down.

AP is easier due to faster building of structures and faster tech progress. That is you can lag behind in tech and catch up much quicker.

I used to play AP mode before. I think nothing wrong with it except if you want to try any tournament or GOTM. It is because no tournament IIRC is done with AP ON.

It makes the games faster and saves your invaluable time for other things . You still gather the skill but for AP mode game and not the normal game. It just a matter of choice :crazyeye: .

You have used to AP mode and no wonder you`re behind in normal mode. Read war academy and forum and play (lots of) the game, I`m sure you`ll master the game. :goodjob:

AP was added to speed up multi-player games. But it is *not* a cheat to use it when playing your own personal single-player games. Just be aware that it does unbalance the game somewhat in your favor over the AI, and is not used in any tournament-style play.

You paid the $30 for the game. Play the way that gives you enjoyment. I know I play in a style that makes advancing up in levels difficult. I don’t care, I like playing the game the way I play. When I play, it’s not to impress others (which is a good thing) it’s to enjoy some time and unwind a bit.

For me, enjoying the game means playing a long game on a huge map and being in the lead throughout most of the game. If using the accelerated production option is what you enjoy, then do it. Who cares? You are the one who spent $30; you are the one who should determine how to enjoy it.

Its like a completely different game. I don't use it because it changes the whole nature of the game and I think it takes more skill to micromanage without it.

yeh, i might just stick with accelerated production after all these responses in favour of it. non-accelerated production seems like a whole new game to me now, especially when i view the demogame saves.
