aCK-3 The Cat with the Hat

Lurker's comment: Wow, this is one of the few games in which Tokugawa's Japan isn't an irrelevant backwards nightmare.

Just a couple of friendly suggestions for the aCK crew...

I would take advantage of your friendship with Toku and Sury to divert your attention to Hannibal.
Your tech disadvantage is pretty steep and I don't see you overtaking either of them any time soon.

Biology seems like a good tech to learn.
All of your friends lack it which means it could make for good trade bait to catch up techwise.
You also seem to have a large number of farms that would obviously benefit from the extra food.

It will require a decent navy but Hannibal is backwards enough for your rifles to have a clear advantage for a while. If you can manage to attack him before he learns rifling he should fall fairly easily.

Why not build the Ironworks in Thesselonica???
Running under Caste and State Property this will be able to pump out a sufficient number of hammers for your empire. My counts are 57 hammers before multipliers with two grasslands being used as farms. It isn't the ideal Ironworks site but given your distinct lack of rivers it is the best I could find on short notice.

I see alot of questionable builds going on in some cities.
You are building a Buddhist Stupa for some reason.
You are building a Customs House while running Merc...which essentially means you are building it because you think it would look pretty.

When in doubt of what to build you can always build Wealth.
Running wealth will allow you to run higher science slider which obviously will close the tech gap that much faster.

Labeling the cities with designations also helps determining what to build in the city as well as what your workers should be doing to improve your production.

I think you guys are in great shape...I think your biggest problem is that there isn't a clear cut path to victory. Considering that this is a learning game, I might consider challenging yourselves by working towards a space victory. You easily could conquer Hannibal and gain enough votes that way to win an AP victory too...but those victories just feel so hollow to me.

Now that the SGOTM is over for the Sporks I have time to help out here in a lurking capacity.
Hopefully, I can add something to your gameplay.

Good luck!

Hi Whosit. I know you said you had a few things on the go at once but are you going to be able to play the next set or do you need a skip?

There's not been much feedback from the team. Are we still interested in continuing this game?

I'm sorry, I really haven't been giving any feedback. It's been busier than I thought, and I will soon have finals. Though, I will admit, the biggest time drain has been the Multiplayer game I joined. I am definitely going to need a skip for the next week, I think. I apologize again, I should have mentioned this earlier.

I hope the other players are still out there, because this game can certainly be finished. I'm not sure where S.ilver went, but I'm guessing that he either became very busy, too, or his new computer had a meltdown.

Anyway, I have no idea who would be after me, but you can trust sturick's insight, so that should help you out.

John, you played your turnset just before me so I think the roster should be:

-pholtz – up next
-S.ilver - on deck
-IamJohn
-The Simple Mind (played)
-Whosit (needs skip)

There hasn't been much activity from Photz or Silver recently. Why don't we wait a couple of days to see if either of them can take it?
