I am new to CIV3 and find it annoying when I want to move a lot of units in one area of the map that after I move one unit the game automatically highlights a unit in another city - I have to reposition the map, move the next unit, and it repositions to the same unit on other side of the map again. Is there some way to turn this feature off?

I don't think there's a way... it's coded in the game.

Back in SMAC they have a better algorithm to find the next available unit, and there's a shortcut key to navigate to another available unit...

Yet another thing that is in SMAC but not in Civ3!

:(

I too find this really annoying, but there is a way around it.

When you want to move all the units from one city or in one area of the map, activate one which you don't need immediately. Then activate and move the others on that screen one by one, just don't give any orders to that first unit (don't even tell it to wait, jusst ignore it and click on the unit you DO want to move). This way, when you finish moving a piece the computer then highlights the one you originally selected.

Of course, I almost always forget this when playing, and end up doing the very thing you complain of.
