Adaptive leader trait: what does it do?

See title. I started a game as Ind and can't figure out what the trait does - the text suggests I get to choose any trait to use for the game, but I have no idea how.

(Bonus comment: As long as I'm writing this: I noticed in another thread that civs were locked into particular religions in general - I would note that Druchii should be able to worship Chaos (Slaanesh)).

Its supposed to give an event every now and then that lets you change one of your traits, like in the FFH mod. You have no control over when/how the event triggers, but you can pick whichver trait you like. However, I suspect that it triggers by event, and with events disabled it might not be triggering. I haven't tested any of the adaptive leaders so can't confirm if its working or not at the moment. Insane works, however.

Yes, civs are locked into particular religions. Ind will be the sole exception, able to either go Spirituality or chaos. Not yet implemented though. They thought about chaos and dark elves, but decided it was easier to just go with elven gods. A good design decision, it would be difficult to implement otherwise. There was some talk of creating a guild representing dark elf chaos cults (or cult of khaine).

I'd like to see it work how it does in later FFH versions; with a random 1% chance of occurring each turn, rather than at a fixed 100-turn length.

Maybe its only in Fall Further, not in standard FFH (I don't play FFH anymore).
I like it better when its random. It might be 2% chance per turn.

Must be FF I'm thinking of. I like it; the 100 turns is pretty lame. Its more fun for it to trigger more often.
