Is it possible to have 2 tech trees for two civs, so for example the British might invent railroad while the aussies are inventing boomerangs or something, and by implivation making only one=civ availiable wonders like Mt. Rushmore

It is indeed, in the CivilizationsInfo xml file. There is a unique tech section somewhere. I'm not at my civ computer, but on a school Mac (:badcomp:), so i'll confirm later.

This can also be used for the wonders, but you could make a BUILDINGCLASS_GENERIC_WONDER and have each civ replace it with.. its.. own..(:hmm:).

I suppose so, with the new tech unlocking the new civic. Interesting idea.

The vanilla desert war game has unique civics, but all of the enemy techs and civics show up - can they be removed?

For each tech tree you could use a prerequisite tech that cannot be researched or traded, then give it as a free tech to the civs you want using that tree. The other tech tree would be visible (presumably way down in Y) but you wouldn't be able to research on it unless you started with the special prereq.

Yes, that is how the Desert War people do it. So, there is no way to have tow completely isolated tech trees?

yes, Tholish just explained how. Give each civ a specialized technology that none of the others get... that is the beginning of a completely isolated tech tree....
