If you could add a tech or two to the tree, what would you add? (Comedy is always appreciated.) Take beer brewing. Its prerequisites would be University and Currency. It would allow construction of the "distillery" in cities containing universities, where it would make one unhappy citizen into a content citizen (to reflect the drunken college students and their euphoria). Beer brewing would be a prerequisite for fundamentalism (in place of conscription) because once you can provide alcohol to your citizens, you're friends for life.
Seriously? I would add "Information Networking." The prerequisites would be computers and rocketry. (Rockets put satellites in orbit.) Information networking allows the construction of "Internet Providers," which increase trade by 25%, make two unhappy citizens content, and slightly decrease the pollution of the city (No longer do you have to drive to see friends or go to work; e-mail and telecommute!)
