Advanced start only? Help!

hello! Ive just installed the mod, running BTS 1.19 - when I start a game, even though everything I can find is set to ancient, I seem to have an advanced start with infantry and the ability to build coal plants etc. I know this cant be right, and I've searched to the best of my (limited) ability. Is there an issue with compatibility or something in the options Ive missed or something, I want an ancient start!

Completely uninstall and reinstall again.

Alternatively select scenarios.

Ive formatted the whole pc already - is this something anyone has experienced at all?

Im sure ive followed the right links, but what version of ROM do i need for 1.19?

What do you mean "but what version of ROM do i need for 1.19?" - Can you be more specific ?

1) Install Civ 4
2) Install BTS
3) Install 3.19 patch

Go to scenarios and play.

Why it is not working for you I do not know, without a little bit more info ? e.g what are you selecting to start you game etc.

Please detail the steps you go through to start a game ... this may help.

OK!

I installed Civ 4, then BTS, then updated to BTS 1.19 then copied ROM 2.7 to the mods folder, selected the mod in the game, went to single player, custom game, made sure everything was set to ancient and unticked advanced start...then the game begins and Ive got infantry and access to advanced buildings.

I'm assuming that ROM starts with settlers, warriors and basic buildings here...I must be doing something glaringly obviously wrong, but Ive formatted and reinstalled....

With ROM 2.7, am I using a wrong version of BTS of vanilla Civ or something?

Are you using BTS 1.19, or the updated to 3.19 version? You need to update all the way to 3.19 for ROM 2.71. If you have not updated, the mod shouldn't run at all!

If you've made a typo and are using BTS 3.19, are you using ROM 2.71? There were some ROM test versions of 2.7 that were for BTS 3.17.

I've never had a problem getting the right starting era, so I'm figuring you have something going on with the installation and versions. Hopefully someone else can be more helpful!

I think I might have 2.7 ROM - the link said 2.71 but the zip file says 2.7 so....ilk download that and give it a go, many thanks!
