Afghan Inspection declares Gitmo "Humane"

It would be good to listen to this being used by Bush in one of his speeches. I can imagine how it would go:

"And besides, even other governments have evaluated Guantanamo as an institue that is humane. The Afgans for example, among others, have done so, and from what i hear Kabul will send a delegation soon as well".

He needs to have the Polish investigate it. Then, in 2008, Jeb Bush could use the "You Forgot Poland" line in the presidential debates when Hillary Clinton says "Guantanamo was a sham, the only country that supported us on its legality was Afghanistan."

Given that the Northern Alliance handed alot of the Gitmo prisoners over to the US, I wouldn't really trust the Afghan government to be particuarly honest on this issue.

Yep, and it's the same Afghan government which prosecuted a man for converting to Christianity, a crime punishable by death (he escaped a guilty sentence due to claims of mental illness after international pressure, and was forced to flee the country).

Anyway, Bush apparently visited Bagram airbase just now (which has been described as "worse than Gitmo") to buck up the troops there. No word on whether he visited the reported "dark prison" and "salt pit" sites too.

Excellent. I'm happy if Guantanamo bay is not as bad as many think. Now, if this Inspection team declares Gitmo "Humane"; I'm sure there is no obstacle to invite an independent inspection team (Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders / Medecins Sans Frontieres, The UN, Amnesty International) to confirm this declaration.

Khanate Inspection Declares Spanish Inquisition "Humane"

"It isn't really torture at all," said Genghis. "The prisoners don't even get raped."

As far as I know, none of those groups have been denied access to Gitmo.

The Red Cross has an office on the base and get acces to Gitmo prisoners when ever they want.

Thanks MobBoss & Skadistic.

None of those (red cross etc.) has comfirmed nor refuted these Afghan Inspection team's declarations, right ?

As somebody else mentioned - they never will. The Red Cross has a policy of not making those types of statements because it violates their neutrality and thus makes it impossible for them to do teit jobs.

So just because they have access does not neccesarily mean conditions are humane.

Hmm. I bet those three suicides just couldn't stand the realization that they were being treated well.

It'd be more credible if an internationally recognized delegation inspected it. Because honestly, do you really expect the current Afghan government to badmouth America?

But yes MobBoss, anyone who disagrees with the Afghan Inspection must be paranoid or America-haters!

The problem with this is that any international humane orginization is very anti-american. The only one I could think of that might not be is the International Red Cross, and someone laready accused the Red Cross of puppetry.

What really amazes me about people here is that it seems that America is capable of lieing at every moment. While at the same time the same "enlightened" European governments are basically infallable. If anyone can name one international humane orginization that hasn't already lambasted the US on some stupid human rights violation then feel free to tell me, from what I hear the US's capital punishment policies make us worse than any country in the world. Staring there I doubt we'd get a fair shake from anyone. It seems to me that doing so would only open us to further criticism from the hpocrits who are already so busy criticizing every move we make they have nothing left in their lives.

*Sigh

Not to my knowledge.

Yes, however, if it were truly that inhumane, would they be allowed to have an office right on the base? I mean come on.

It is luxuriant compared to what it could be, and what they deserve - regular meals, Aguilera music, exercise, complimentary rope substitute - it's all good.
They need to make it harsher, and use all and any means of interrogation when necessary. Following all information of use being extracted, they should face a quick military tribunal and a humane judicial hanging followed by cremation.

They all hate the US without a reason.
Shame on you, Amnesty International.

Gee, why don't we let the UN inspect? I mean Cuba is on the Human Rights council and they are right there...

I gave the reason they hate us in the same exact post. Mind not mocking me?
