After 1.52 Unable Internet Multiplayer

Since installing 1.52 cant seem to join internet multiplayer games.

When asked to login to gamespy after inputting login details machine completly locks up, cant even get to task manager to end task.

Anyone else had similar problems or any suggestions how to fix?

Dont want to uninstall patch as like some of singleplayer options including marathon game.

Worked fine pre patching on both 1.00 and 1.09.

In addition to this tried also entering LAN multiplayer menu and does same thing, computer completly locks up. Have checked other posts on this and multiplayer forum and can find noone else reporting same problem.
Will upload dxdiag results if anyone thinks that would help but doubt it.

Any suggestions other than reinstall or wait for next patch to see if fixes?

Seems quite a few problems reported on 1.52, any idea on when next patch likely to be, are they being released regularly...

Fixed my problem, it was with my firewall software which changed settings after downloaded patch for 1.52. I found this by going through civ menu to check for updates, came back with message no updates required but firewall software brought up message application changed since installation only granted outbound access. Changed to server access for civ and now works fine...
Using Mcaffee Viruscan Security centre, cant remember exact software name as posting this message from work not home.
Check out your firewall software you are having similar problem. Why should completly lock machine rather than bring up error message dont know, another civ quirk I suppose.
