That was no joke, that´s precisely how my first Planetfall game ended. I thought I´d be safe from barbs/aliens for the first couple turns like in vanilla and used my initial units for scouting, imagine my surprise when I get the message that my only city has been captured by the Planetmind and that I´ve been defeated even before my borders could expand.

I had a similar game but several dozen turns in, A Fungal Bloom out produced me mindworm to scout, it was a long fight and I lost, well I could no longer compete against the remaining AIs.

You'll have to know the terrain you'll get well and what to build on it, researching to enable things will be a huge new experience. You will be largely diverse than your neighbor and it will be edge of your seat thrilling to see what path he's chosen

Indeed, to attack the United States is to attack the world.
The delegation of Portugal was wise to attack the only other nation in this Archipelago that wasn´t under our protection. Nevertheless we keep a watchful eye on this recent development and will step in if the situation gets out of hand.
