Yes they were Pikes. And they did exactly what I wanted them to do.
There is a bigger picture envolved.
French units stood in my way so retreated to return with other units
 
Apologies, I'm running behind in all my PBEMs. GOTM 101 took a hell of a time (and then I even missed the deadline), and now my wife says I need a Civ-free week...

But this doesn't take a lot of time, therefore: GPS to Tom.
 
Lanzelot, I recommend installing Civ on your work PC. Anytime my wife complains, I simply respond "shhh, I'm working" :)

I have now understood what it was... a joke :king:.

I used to note every turn somes numbers from the game (like victory points), and sometimes, like now, it's usefull to know what really happened :cool:

Previous turn, Holland had 1430 victory points.

A pike cost 15 shields and give 15 victory points

And this turn Holland has still 1430 victory points :rolleyes:.

Yes I understand what you are saying muzbang.
I wanted to count how many units the Dutch had in that city by attacking it with my weakest units and to see what type of units he had thier but it did not work as well as I hoped but I do know he has just Pikes. My MI will visit thier as soon as they arrive, meanwhile I will strip thier land of improvements

Dear Queen of England,

French King recently proposed help to fight against Holland, proposition that stayed without answer.

Previous turn, i proposed to pillage salpeter and Iron in holland. Once again, the queen remain silent.

But here you say that my units stand on your way... and you advances on my units ?

I see French King.
My units pose no threat to you but only the Dutch.
It is only that I wished to fight these Dutch on my own but if you wish to assist that is good too.

I just thought you'd need your units elsewhere.
So war as you like. And have good luck in your fights
