Age of Empires 3

If the other games are anything to go by, this game should be awesome :).

Though i would have preferred something like the Napoleonic wars for the game, and maybe a larger diversity in the Tech Levels.

... only 3 posts? In two of my other froums I go to (ok, one IS dedicated to AOE3) there are tons of posts and a large following (of the news about the gamnes and moaning over having to buy new computers).

Can't sleep... AOE3 is coming...

Not interested, to high of the system specs :p

From what I heard, the engine is supposed to be scalable like the Source engine. So those of us who don't have top-of-the-line systems should be able to play the game as long as you have a DX9 card.

Update..like I did :D

Can't wait either..waiting for demo..
You cant update laptops :p.

Buy a new computer...like I did.

Not for Age of Empires III though, I have actually needed a new computer for a while.

(Age of Empires III did have an influence though)

Hmm this and TES Oblivion... looks like there are finally games in the pipeline that are worth playing. I just hope Age of Empires III wil have more speaking for it than mere eye candy.

I have been awaiting the realease of this game, but I haven't had much to keep me really interested in it, during the wait. Battlefield 2 came out, and I've been playing that with any free time I happen to have. Not to mention that Civ IV is on the way as well as F.E.A.R. Although AoE is what got me into strategy games and really computer games in general (was playing only on console up until that time), I haven't really gotten all too excited about this one. I think it was Age of Mythology that actually turned me off to it. I really didn't like that game, felt it was a waste of money. So I went back to playing AoE2 online, which is still a blast, but nothing like blowing up tanks on the digital battlefield.

THE DEMO IS OUT!!!

I REPEAT..

THE DEMO IS OUT!!

Must download on my 56k connection..:D

370 + megabytes!!

Its going to get done when the full game comes out...:D

I've installed the demo, but it doesn't work. I get an error that I've had before sometimes, but I forgot how to fix it. My (very old) monitor gets turned on and off repeatedly (with only a black screen). Any clues?

I downloaded and played the demo last night. The game seems alright, but it's nothing to write home about. Fans of the series would probably love it, but I didn't find it too innovating or new in comparison with every other RTS games. You can also see a heavy Warcraft III (like in Civ 4, too... why do developers go this direction?). The buildings look Warcraft III-ish, there's heros, experience points, etc. I wanted strategy and tactics, not an RPG.

In my opinion, its nothing special, exciting, or new; but, I am sure others may love it.

I fixed the problem by changing the refresh rate to 60 in the registry file. The game plays nice, but it looks a lot like AoK. Compared to R:TW the fighting is worse. Conclusion after an hour worth of gameplay is that I definately won't buy this one.

I thought I'd buy it, but I'm not going to (and even if I liked it, I wouldn't have time to play it). Scrolling is too fast, zoom is not good enough. Really nothing special (not even the graphics!). It's just another RTS game.
