Age of Empires 3

I thought I'd buy it, but I'm not going to (and even if I liked it, I wouldn't have time to play it). Scrolling is too fast, zoom is not good enough. Really nothing special (not even the graphics!). It's just another RTS game.

This is just the demo remember, some of that stuff MIGHT CHANGE!! Or they will patch it to fix all that stuff.....

The major thing that bothers me is that you can't zoom out far enough. I really don't care about zooming in, in want to have oversight! A flaw of most RTS games, I think.

See, civ rules!

Played the New England and Texas maps, as well as the 2 scenarios of the campaign about the Black Family. :) Makes for some refreshment for me, as I don't play RTS games other than the Age series. And AoM is already far behind... I agree that zoom is too close, but maybe with a change in the resolution... Apart from that, I don't really feel they're going RPG, after all heroes were part of AoM already, and XP points here only serve one purpose : the neat idea of shipments from the home city ! That, combined with the trading posts, makes for interesting new strategies. It really feels like resources can be gathered in very different ways, so it's a bit messy for the moment, I don't know if it will be clearer later. And will the actual game be better ??

Don't know if I'll buy it, maybe my brother will get it... Anyway, since I suck at those games, I'll only play it a little when I want to see my soldiers cheer up after destroying a fort. :D

I have read the rveiws on it and seen screen shots on it which look great to me but Im not sure if I'll buy it. Now that school has started, I dont have enough time for it, and I think Ill save my money for Civ4.

one thing that anoys me is not being able to Delet units or bulidings or even stop producing one once your started. That iritates me. But im sure they will fix it by the end. Also how do you do diplomacy/tribute. And where can i see the current population (and limit). Otherwises its fun not quite as fun as part 2.

will a p4 3 ghz gerforce5700 but with only 512 mb ram run it ok?

Sure it will, just not to full settings :).

I've played the demo. It's fun but I bet it gets old fast. Just sit and build a large army, then bowl them over. Perhaps it's different on a higher level (I'm just playing easy), but I rather doubt it.

The demo is very impressive. The graphic effects are simply unparallel. I cannot fully appreciate the gameplay since I have some trouble figure out how to perform certain tasks. Several fun elements being added to the gameplay (the concept of home city, trading post) certainly move the franchise forward. I just have only one complaint so far, which is there is still no EXPLORE command for the units. Map explore still need to be performed manually.

Yes, auto exploration would be good.

Maybe just for the explorer unit?

I can't see what point they have otherwise (I am probablt missing something here).

The main element in RTS games is about managing to control everything at once. If you have the computer do things for you, it defeats the purpose - especially when it comes to exploration.

The single player I already find boring. There isn't much tact involved, just build a big advanced army then kill em. Looking forward to the MP though.

what botheres me is the huge interface. Who greenlighted that? It takes 1/3 of the screen...
They probably thought everyone plays under 1600x1200. :mischief:

Part 2 is better. i dont even like the graphics. i had so much fun playing part 2, and part 1. i dont think this game is going to cut it. Another think i can happening that killed AoM is no random maps. AoM didnt bulid you a map it just gave you a ready made one. This would kill civ so much.

After playing the demo some more, I am a LOT more impressed :).

Now that I know all there is to know about this one (played the others, and SW: GB, to death), it is more fun.

And I just love the period, though it would have been niced to have it in Europe :(.

For me, this game is a huge let down from the past 2 AoE's. It seemed like they went for a cartoony approach. It just didnt feel like Age of Empires.
