Jack Merchant and I play a ladder PBEM with the following rules:

JM = Russia
Aggie = Babylon

Deity light: deity rules without the extra units for the AI.
Pangeae
No domination and conquest allowed (although no conquest does not influence the game result)
5 biljon years, wet and warm
barbarians random
1.14 (first to finish a couple of 1.14 SG's before upgrading)

Jack and I also agreed upon the following additional rules:

- ROP rape not allowed
- We have to stick to 20 turn deals. Or longer if the humans make a longer one.
- No phoney wars and phoney MPP's. So it's not allowed to declare to a civ at the other side of the world, get MPP's with the rest and stay out of the action.
- Trade boycot not allowed
- No declaration of war vs another civ until the middle ages.

Especially when playing against Aggie, Erikk. ;)

ERIKK, that may be. Jack and I agreed upon these rules to avoid AI bashing. You also complained about the weakness of the AI in our game. I had to stop fighting, remember? Also to ensure a bit of fun. We have to go for space, culture or diplo. This should prevent a 1vs1 showdown (boring). And lastly we want to avoid discussions regarding our deals.

My start:

A game forest and a river... nice !

Aggie and I decided to abandon the rule we had previously agreed on to disallow ancient age warfare against the AI. On deity, they shouldn't need the extra protection.

It's turn 105 and Aggie and I are both at war now - Aggie with the Mongols, me with the Germans, Vikings and (most importantly, as they are my neighbours) the Ottomans. Aggie has the full world map, I don't.
My spoiler thread has been updated.

Since I have the map now too, I felt it was incumbent upon me to share it with y'all :) Here's what our world looks like ( I'm the dark red in the NE, Aggie is the royal blue to the SW) :

I also saw reason to update the spoiler thread.

I'm sorry that I didn't give Jack the chance to win from me, but I give up :(

I made a fatal error when I attacked the mongols fully unprepared. And I broke a gpt-deal with them: rep hit. In my last turn I lost two cities and the mongols came with a giant force. They wouldn't talk, my cities rioted (luxuries gone). So:

Congratulations Jack :)

:eek: Wow! A suprise loss!

Congrats Jack! [party]
