My only main gripe with the entirety of the gameplay in Pirates! is the aging system. There must be some way to tweak the aging system so that it isn't active or doesn't make it harder to play the game as you continue to age. Does anyone know of a tweak for this purpose?

nope, however I do know that if you stop dividing the plunder you wont be forced into retirement..... I've heard of someone on the Pirates forums with a character into 2008

This can only mean one thing...zombie pirates! :run:

It takes 20-30 minutes for 1 year, so 200+ hours of play time. This was maybe my third game played 1½ years ago when I got the game and found out that as long as you didn't divide the plunder after you were 40 or so you could keep going. I thought you would continue to age as time went by, but you stop aging when you reach retirement age which differs depending on the difficulty level. Once I had finished all the quests I just wanted to see how far I could go with it, and used it mostly to test new skins I had made. A few of these are available for download in the mod database at Hooked on Pirates.

Can you leave the game on without risk of dying or 'game over' due to other causes?

What does your crew say, can you keep them from mutiny?

I suppose you could leave the game running to keep the clock going, though nothing else would happen other than running out of food. Even food isn't necessary as your crew won't die of starvation though a window will pop up saying "Captain, your crew is starving, we need more food" The worse thing that can happen to your captain is to be imprisoned or marooned on an island when loosing a sword duel to Montalban, Mendoza, Raymondo, or a wanted criminal, and that only lasts for 6 months or less.

As long as you have a minimum of 1,000 gold pieces for each crew member they won't mutiny, they may grumble from time to time. 2,000 per man and they'll be content and 3,000 each they'll be happy. Once you get to the age of 30-35 you usually have most of the quests done and should have 200,000-400,000 by then with no more worries about mutiny.
