AI and social policies

If they finish Patronage, you will get a "______ has adopted a Social Policy that causes your influence with city states to decline faster!" notification.

Really? I've never once seen that happen. But I do notice that the rate of decay with city-states varies greatly. I've seen everything from .35 (Alexander, full patronage) to 2. I just assumed the numbers above 1 were from people taking united front (pre-patch, finishing patronage post patch).

^You probably just looked at a hostile city state, since they degrade faster than others. That message does indeed happen.

Out of interest, if multiple other civs finish patronage, how does that effect your rate of influence decay, as opposed to just one civ finishing patronage?

It's not additive, but it does mean the other civ that finished patronage now also suffers the effect. That does mean if two different civs finish patronage, the finisher has no added effect for any other civs that finish it, unless one of the other civs that finshed patronage is subsequently eliminated from the game of course. I'd like to see the finisher modified slightly to be "other civs that have not finished patronage suffer faster decay, but your civ is exempt from any other civs faster decay"

EDIT -- this is based on my experience with United Front; let me be clear I don't know definitively after the new patch but I assume it works the same.
