Does the AI have the all seeing eye or something? I have noticed through numerous playthroughs that when the AI gets aircraft they seem to be able to hit where ever they want regardless if they have an actual line of sight to their target. My units are 7 to 8 tiles away from their nearest city and they have no units in my territory yet they somehow continually air attack me.

Does the AI have line of sight to everything?

If your watching replays; the exact order of animation is a bit out of order.
(They moved the land unit to get visibility before the bomber strikes even though it showed the bombing first.)

I've had similar things happen. Fighters attacking my troops from cities 15+ tiles away, but they have no line of sight and no ground troops anywhere near my troops or city. The fighters can attack my troops and city, but my bombers can't touch them. And their cities are in a dark area (which means I have no one with a line of sight). But the AI doesn't have that sight, either.

I'm a HUGE believer in a cheating AI in general when it comes to any computer game. Otherwise, it's too easy.

^^So am I.

Tonight I was playing a game, and a barb traveled FIVE tiles and stole my worker. FIVE tiles in one turn. Left his camp, traveled up a hill, and grabbed him.

I don't mind the cheating, but sometimes I've got to rage quit and go back to my previous save.

Yeah, if it's happening, it's not cheating as such; it's a bug. It's of course possible that such a bug could exist (other bugs that make the AI appear to be cheating have existed, after all), but I can't say I've come across this happening. :dunno:

It would actually be quite a good way to improve the combat AI, I would've thought, if it were a design decision.

^^I agree that it's not technically cheating, and a *bug* like you said. I don't let it bother me too much, as it keeps me on my toes :)

It appears that spawned barbs can move the same turn they are spawned.
It addition they can spawn even in territory you have line of sight in Civ V.

Yeah, barbs can definitely spawn in areas where you have LOS, especially unt LOS. I can't count the number of times I've gotten a barb camp guardian down to a few hp when another barb spawns right next to my warrior/archer/etc.
On the flip side, I've never seen a camp get created in my territory.

Was there a significant body of water in between the two of you? It could be that the AI had carriers running around, with subs acting as spotters...

^^nope--no water. Just wide open space. But since the AI is stupid and didn't "heal" his fighters ,my SAMs took his planes out eventually. And when I got closer and got my spotters in there, I wiped him out :)

Never seen that in my games, and in my WWII mod there are a lot of air units. I even had to force the sight on cities to AI (and human) to allow long range city bombing for the mod game play.

And are you sure your units are not under the range of the AI air unit's recon area ?

I found that I always got surprised with destroyers on sea that far away from enemy city.Pretty sure there were no submarine or carrier around
