AI - is it better after new patch ?

On Immortal, to test the AI i attacked Ghandi, i can say that the Ai is still the same, no difference at all.... And the barbs too, they attack, but at the same time they made the same mistake of the civs, they attack even when i'm in best defensive position...

And the lame "tactic" to move forward the ranged units is still here...

I think the devs don't konw how to patch it, if it is...

And i haven't used cavalry...

They didn’t claim they’d be making major changes to the AI in this patch. That’s rare in the first patch, which usually fixes technical and performance problems, things they didn’t finish (especially relating to documentation or giving the player information), and simple issues.

That doesn’t mean we should be patient forever, and I’m not too optimistic about AI improvements… but for such an early patch this one’s pretty good.

Except for the deluxe edition, it corrupts the save files...
I'm not sure if the performances go up, honestly, because i started a new game to test it, so the CPU was less stressed than after 300 turns... But i can say that i haven't seen any problems.

On the other hand, the question is, when will we see a real major patch? December? It seems to me a little too far to ask for patience, i hope in early November they will release a new patch....

I did notice two significant differences so far (King). One is that the ai will not give you a decent return anymore on the trade of goods. I used to be able to always get around 150-200 even if someone didn't really like me too much. Now it has dropped to around 100 it looks like. Still in my first game but this looks better at least so far. I also lost out on a RA investment when Monty attacked me.

The second big change is that I have had two big wars in this new game. The first was against Monty and he acted the same attacking me straight on even if I was dug in. The second war was against Alexander and I was very impressed. I threw back his suprise attack and than counter-attacked into his territory. His surviving units from the first battle actually withdrew to his closest city! When I got to the city he had a ring of troops around it and a large battle of swordsman and bowmen vs Hopilites and war chariots ensued. After a few turns I was beaten up pretty bad as he kept sending in reinforcements so I figured to do a tactical retreat. He didn't follow! He began to ask for terms in his favor and I was tempted but didn't want to give up just yet. He would send a unit at me every few turns to "check up" on me but it turned into a cold war. I brought up reinforcements and renewed my offensive. This time I was able to break through his defenses and take the city. I decided to finish him off here and now and it was another tough bloody fight at his capital. So in conclusion I was very impressed.

Edit: I would also like to add that Monty asked for a white peace as soon as I beat up his army and took a city. So not sure if I was lucky or that the ai has improved in this area as they would usually refuse to a peace even if they were losing.
