"Cities will randomly build +Happiness buildings based on their Flavor values, but in most cases, Happiness is all those buildings DO so if you don't actually need the extra Happiness, the buildings aren't actually worth the maintenance cost; this gives a substantial advantage to a human player, who'll plan it out more intelligently to save money.

this was in an answer to another post of mine...IS THIS TRUE??? the AI randomly builds buildings??? there is no logic to it at all??? I hope not this will ruin the game for me...If the computer doesnt even think about what to build just randomly picks..what the heck is the point then???

Again is this true?
I hope I am just misunderstanding this statement,
thanks

Not sure if it's true about the random builds but whoever said the extra happiness buildings aren't worth it is wrong. More happiness means shorter amount of time between golden ages. GAs are highly beneficial in multiple ways and even more so if you (or the AI) are Persia.

That is in fact why the AI gets the massive Chieftain level happiness bonus at all difficulty levels.

It simply doesn't build enough happiness buildings when someone mods the game and sets it to Prince level.

The AIs that are observed to be better are those whose flavors work better in more situations than others.

And yup; there are many people on this site that win on Immortal level using the "human cheat" of a working brain instead of picking randomly.

the ai cheats

look how long it took "them" to program a computer to beat a human in chess
that had a finite "world"

very much dislike playing vs the ai

don't know why anyone plays vs the computer
this game is the best in multiplayer

I play vs the comp mostly because steam MP likes to be an ass every time i use it..

..on another note...

The AI definitely cheats. But, like most (even with searching for the correct answer), have no clue if their building order is random. It sure doesn't seem that way on higher diff levels.
But, i like to believe each Civ has specific goal in game. ..and therefor, a build "pattern".
The building order can still be random but, if a civ is more war based.... They are probably more likely to be building military buildings than culture buildings and vice-versa.

In my experience, Bismarck is a perfect example. Every time i come near Germany, they tend to be production/military focus with low happiness scores. Which, of course, leads back to building theory vs AI traits.
